I'm not using a podcast app. I've never used RSS . I don't even know what it is. I'm not completely technologically illiterate, but I'm not technologically fluent either. I have Youtube and their premium service because their app is designed to stop working when you turn your phone screen off. It's a dirty trick. I hated Windows phones, but they at least let the user link directly to websites and bypass apps that allow corporations to engage in these tactics. Besides all that, some meager amount of the fee goes to creators whose content I consume. The ones they have not demonetized and stolen the proceeds from that is.

Gavin Rea-Davies

It's the one that's featured in a couple of recent videos

C&Rsenal

If you're using a podcast app I believe you can pull the RSS for the podcasts from Patreon and then have regular control again.

C&Rsenal

We are! Also that's exceptionally cool.

Chris Arms

I don't generally watch anything besides Primer and the hand trap episodes. Project Lightening was fantastic too. The short videos, the Minute of Mae etc, no interest in that stuff. But, I don't have any reason to try and dissuade you from or criticize you for posting that kind of content. As far as this podcast goes, I was a patron a long time ago and only recently became one again. The format of things here on patreon is not convenient. If it is links to unlisted youtube videos, that's great. I can listen to it on youtube with one of my bluetooth headsets while I'm doing whatever. But here on patreon, this mp3 audio only thing does not work well. There's no software interfacing with the headset to allow me to pause/play etc. If I need to pause one of these patreon hosted pieces of content, it gets set back to the beginning of the video/track etc. Youtube will let me download this mp3 format to the app, but that doesn't work correctly either. Wish this was posted directly to youtube .

Regarding specialists, are you familiar with the Vickers MG Collection and Research Association here in the UK ? Rich is probably our best expert on the Vickers and related stuff. Has several live examples (hardly easy here), plus a whole plethora of accoutrements. Thanks to your show I was able to spot how important a named 1915 Colt in .455 is, So that when it's elderly owner decided to give it up, I was able to put him in touch with Rich who has given it a new lease of life in an active collection, rather than it becoming a de-ac in a museum. He was also able to trace the named Officer's service record throughout the great war. So your videos have saved atleast one bit of history even over here in the uk!

Might I suggest a 2-hour Q&A X-mas special to eat up a week of video release? That would probably give a week, week-and-a-half, of breathing space. Another is something to pass on to Ed: it seems that every time I try logging into Utreon, it has to send me a temporary passcode instead of just allowing me to enter a previously made password. That's a bit weird and annoying.

Ralston Purina also offers a 50 pound bag (only 22 kg in the metric parts of the world) of "specially formulated" Bachelor-Chow!

Peter Carlisle

Does the rectangle contain a cigar cutter?

C&Rsenal

The boy?

C&Rsenal

shhhh... shhhhhhhhhhh

C&Rsenal

Well we're thankful for you.

C&Rsenal

correct

C&Rsenal

I appreciate the offer but we're not going to take any special donations. We'll make it work on budget like we should!

C&Rsenal

Yes

fi

Just to mention it - the podcast is the best surprise about this patreon. I would now stay subscribed just for that :)

Chris Marchi

Ok, what’s the origin story of Sue?

Jaxon Bidinger

I’m leaving Patreon and moving over to Utreon. See you over there

Joshua Herman

Yes. It'll be in the "posts" section on the channel

eRahja

If I change my donations to utreon would I still get the podcast cause I really like these. And yes I m little mad.

Nicholas Resar

Without fluffy research assistant.

Andrey Gardner

That could be any video naval historian as Irn Bru dependency is a requirement in that field. Are you thinking of one with or without a fluffy research assistant?

Nicholas Resar

Hmm, I wonder if second mystery collaboration is a certain youtuber with an Irn Bru habit that I also support on Patreon.

Andrey Gardner

Nice to see you shed some light on your projected storage expansion costs. How much help, in terms of manhours, are you willing to accept per contributor on this project? I may not be able to help with constuction in person, but I can liquidate that much of my time, and forward the proceeds.

Dr Don Hurley

Sooo...new ad campaign; "irritate YouTube, SUSCRIBE!"

Brock Gouett

Thank you

Andrey Gardner

I believe it was previously stated "yes" or "which ever you like" YT views are good for driving discoverability by feeding the algorithm while Utreon viewing is good for the Utreon beta test.

Andrey Gardner

My understanding is that one is supposed pay for the privilege of interrupting with a super/ultra chat, and in the aforementioned stream interruption no payment was made.

Primarch359

@Bruce Brodnax Given how much the founding fathers resisted having a standing army and navy but still had government staff to run the country I think they would be on the opposite side of your distinction. The Coast Guard is older than the navy.

Bruce Brodnax

You know, I ran into Tom's brother Tim at Jack-in-the-Box[1] once [neither of us can stand Mickey D's] and he seemed pretty expert in old guns as well: you should look him up too! 🤣 [Othais, you had me laughing so hard my eyes were leaking w/ that line! Thanks!] 1: aka "Ralston Purina People Chow"

Brock Gouett

Which video about the shots over a lake? I think I missed that one

Brock Gouett

The podcast is my favorite perk. I just love listening to you guys just having fun

henry lynn

A legitimate use for tannerite... Like using them as an analog for naval mines?

Brock Gouett

I appreciate you guys

eRahja

Yeah I just Finnished listening previous podcast now I can start this one

Bruce Brodnax

Negative.

Bruce Brodnax

You have that exactly reversed.

Bruce Brodnax

That's pretty much constant everywhere. The U.S.' IRS has their own "tax courts" with their own separate system of juris(im)prudence to railroad the defendants...

Bruce Brodnax

You're correct, that IS an absolutely ludicrous statement. The LAST thing we [as a nation] need is more govt. employees to support; the one's we're already paying for already cost too much! [NB: Note the distinction here btw govt. employees and military personnel; while technically the latter are paid by the govt., they actually *are* a proper function of the govt. as construed by the Founders...]

Cal30M1

Anyone else read "Othais' favorite fleshlight" at first glance? 🤣🤣 And poor Bruno. I've been there.

Erik Schmitz

At the moment, where should we be watching? Utreon or YT? What's best for the show?

Derald Bethard

One take away, never interrupt a creator while he is in the middle of a live stream. Good to know.

Mark Clement

we don’t tell ghost stories around the campfire. we listen to the saga of Othias and the IRS. turns the kids white as a sheet.

Wayne Dygert

A hygrometer measures specific gravity (like the how-many-balls-are-floating widget you use to test antifreeze). A hydrometer measures humidity.

Leslie Alexander

i have never heard i nice story about the IRS, that said the Australian tax department operates on a system of guilty till proven innocent with the burden of proof on the accused. very unpleasant

Joel Getschman

I love your dreams

Primarch359

This may be a ludicrous statement but this whole tax thing has made me think that perhaps the IRS needs more funding to hire more staff. Also Stupid live stream idea. Just stream while you have to clean guns, talk to chat and extract money from us. Multitasking. Also tell the mustachioed man i am VERY impressed by the Long Range shots over the lake in that video. Not so much for the shots themselves but rather the set up.
