As someone who has hiked the Grand Canyon from top to bottom and spent 4 days camping in it, I can assure you that it takes many people many days to meticulously paint and maintain that backdrop. Have respect!

I do a lot of driving and the worst place to drive is not an entire state. It is specifically Memphis Tennessee. It’s like bumper cars in that city. 4 accidents happened in my field of vision, not driven up on them, but actually occurred in front of me. They are terrible I every sense, no signals, massive speed, ignorance of traffic laws and crazy aggressive drivers. I would rather drive through Atlanta on 85 during a snow squall than drive in Memphis again.

No that was something else.... "Fire-something" I think? Frog Lube is mostly wintergreen oil. Smells good; actually does a fair job of helping clean up rust, but definitely NOT something I use for long term storage; I'd almost rather use cosmoline or RIG; at least you know what you're getting into with those.
Bruce Brodnax
Agreed. They don't exist in So.Cal., but in my travels to UT & OR I consider them worth going a bit out of my way for...
Bruce Brodnax
I can attest, it is in fact really there. Visit the North Rim sometime, when you have the time! [You've got a long drive ahead of you if you want to do both rims! DAMHIK...]
Bruce Brodnax
No, no, NO! The sign at the border clearly states: "Welcome to California: leave your money and your daughters and go back home!" You're right about the state flower [typically found growing wild in AZ; we've got huge plantations here dedicated to the cultivation of CA poppy for seed to supply the constant reseeding needed to keep it visible on roadsides here... 😁]
Bruce Brodnax
Wasn't Frog Lube the one that came out a few years back that InRangeTV tested & determined it was pretty much cooking (vegetable) oil in a fancy package w/ a HUUUUGE markup? I forget which brand it was, but that was hilarious!

Drove to San Diego in early February. Nice to see you enjoyed California drivers as much as I did!
PHprof
Albuquerque is a strange place on a "normal" day.

I love black bear diner! Out of the dozen or more I’ve been to, they’ve all been pretty consistently good!
Peter Nathaniel
We had a very similar experience at the Grand Canyon in May several years ago except it was filled with fog so we couldn’t see anything, so I also agree with it being a myth.
Dale Burt
Belated “Welcome to California” Our state flower is the California poppy Please come back soon
Chris Stochaj
As a Mass driver, we love you guys too

Bet that Gummy Lube was Frog Lube.. I had the same result on a couple of handguns. Turned almost into wax after sitting for a while in the safe

Mae Responding: Going to miss those 80mph speed limits too.

Even as an Arizona native, I've never grown tired of long drives up and down the state. I get tired driving through endless tree lined roads on the east coast.
Halinspark
Huh. I was in Flagstaff about the same time. Weird. Glad you enjoyed the rapidly changing geography that is Arizona/New Mexico.
