I was sitting in my kitchen while watching this and had to keep pausing to check if it was something malfunctioning before I figured out it was the video. It really isn't a good fit and I think no sound effect would be preferable to what is there.

Thank you, Othais, this is very helpful. Gold, actually! I also support the exploded revolver poster- maybe 2 panels with a solid frame and top break example that contain most of the parts that you describle. It would be an incredible companion to your Service Revolvers of the Great War poster, as would a Service Pistols of the Great War poster! More graphics!

This. Give it a "creative commons" license that it may be used as an illustration in gunsmithing books so that it can become widespread and gain official status from common use, like calling facial tissues "Kleenex" regardless of their actual brand.

I concur that the noise seems out of place. A triangle ting or bubble pop sound might be a little nore fitting. Ultimately a petty thing, but it's the time to share opinions.

Awesome project, now to get it promoted out to all the gunsmiths and revolver nerds so it gets in the lexicon. Couple of suggestions on the more generic terms. Instead of using the super common 'bolt', 'arm' and 'catch', perhaps adding a clarifying signifier would make the terms more specific and recognizable to their function within the revolver. Perhaps 'locking bolt', 'transfer arm' and 'arbor catch' which is used in the audio descriptions but not in the term listings. Same could be said regarding the proper names used; 'Abadie' and 'Perrin' systems(?) Other generic terms like 'nose', 'hand' and 'dog' seem specific enough to their function in the context of a revolver that additional clarifying terms aren't needed.

Additionally, at 3:21, when Othais talks about the Chalk/Chock, you didn't include a label or the noise. There were a few of those in the back half of this that felt like edge cases, but you might want to add labels and dings for consistency sake.

At 18:42, when discussing Rebound vs Half-cock, Othais uses "rebounded position" when discussing cylinder rotation, when I think he meant Half-cock position. If I understood that segment correctly, at least. Visually, it looks like the gun is at half cock when he's rotating the cylinder.

I concur. It was felt initially like a classic C&Rsenal Shitpost kind of thing, poking fun at How It Works or other 90s/2000s documentary series, but after the initial chuckle, it started to get grating, especially when there were a bunch of terms in a row. Unsure what the ideal sound would be, or if there should even be one, but shorter seems wise. Something small, like the auditory equivalent of an asterisk. Honestly if you took the warmup and the reverb away, and just left the ping, that might be okay

The more revolver lock works I see, the more I appreciate the Smith and Wesson combo bolt/cylinder stop. It's such a beautiful solution to keeping the cylinder from moving when you don't want it to.

I don't often comment on these because I never really have reason to but the noise that plays when Othias mentions a key term is a bit annoying. Perhaps a shorter, sharper noise would be better.
