Have you guys visited the museum in the old Union Station in Ogden, Utah? Besides train stuff, their upper floor has lots of John Moses Browning stuff ... lots of prototypes, including a couple of his first gas-operated repeating rifles.

(around the 30 min mark) - Did someone cross a hose somewhere? DOT wouldn't have approved a headlight that would be hidden if the vacuum failed, would they? Shouldn't the headlight covers pop _open_ w/o a vacuum source to keep them shut? Also, that tightness of modern power-*assisted* steering is a design "feature," not a bug: better haptic feedback means less oversteer by marginal drivers. But I feel your pain: I was just talking w/ a friend about how I could steer my mom's gigantic old land yacht [mid-70s Caddy, one of the cars I learned to drive on] w/ one finger [that in turn led us down a rabbit hole of the wonders of the old barge-tastic floaty suspension...]
