"Negotiations were begun." Right before "War were declared."

Bruce Brodnax

I could be wrong, but I always thought "Nauvoo" was pronounced "Now-voo" not "Nouveau" w/ the world's worst attempt at French... πŸ˜‰

Michael Stueber

This was great--I'm looking forward to the second part. I hope you get a crazy bug to do one on Sam Colt at some point. That would be a ride!

Glenn Miller

Thanks for the video. What an amazing story. What an amazing man.

Stan Gregory

The concept was indeed overdue, and the content was excellent; great work, overall. However, there was a 2 lb hunk of clickbait sitting on the table, and I honestly wouldn't have noticed if you'd had a bugger descend from you nose after the beginning and slide down to your stomach by the end. So maybe check for that before releasing,..and for God's sake, at least touch the 1911 sometime within Episode 2!

Mic

Outstanding!

Sam Taylor

Moving back to the south east in July from the south west. Hope to be able to find and 1895 Winchester. Last thing I need to feel complete

Duncan Andrews

Fasinating video Othais, many thanks. Can't wait for part 2!

Sam Taylor

Eww hair! That instantly made 2025 an "ich" year

This is awesome, looking forward to part two! It would be helpful, especially for the little rewinds, to have a timeline showing when events are occurring along the bottom of the screen. The cards for each firearm look good, but don't give any relation to contemporary designs. If the card image did a flow/zoom into the timeline to show where it fits that would be cool, but just having the timeline would be much clearer. I appreciate this might not be a quick thing to add, but I do think it would be worth including, or if not in this video as part of a wrap-up in part two. Sidenote, if I can get some more details on the patent (mainly the drawings) for the magazine-in-lever design at ~22:00 I'd love to try modelling that up - that sits in my favourite category of 'what were they on' design. I'm going to have a go with the still, but there's a lot that's unclear.

BSJ

Well done. Thank you!

Erik

I would second that. Not quite as sexy as a Bruno animation, but would allow a better chance of comprehension in the time allotted. Otherwise: CHECK OUT THE BIG BRAIN ON BROWNING! XD

Guido Schriewer

wait. did you broke your cap? do you go for long hair? no hat...

Neil

Birmingham is mentioned at 7:30 could you clarify where this is?

J Coles

Great show as always and have a happy new year

Alfred Gallo

I agree with Mac Johnson about highlighting some of the parts that Othais is mentioning when the schematics are shown. An incredible in-depth episode!! As a β€œpurist,” I like Othais with his hat but this criticism is meaningless because the content of this Primer Episode is superb.

Guido Schriewer

xcuse me do you have time to talk a second about our lord and savior johnny B.... (loosely quote hickok45) and in the evenings at 1911hours I unroll a little praying rag towards ogden utah...

Minion

Seconded

Michael Tynan

Hit it out of the park! Welll done and many thanks.

Jcxmas

Excellent excellent excellent!!!!! Home run on this one!!!

Jason

OMG! It's a topless Othais! No hat!

Mac Johnson

Very well done! Only suggestion: when Othais refers to a schematic, it is not always easy to identify the part he is talking about before the schematic disappears. It might be good to point out with a cursor or color when referring to some aspect of a design.
