I think the whole “simple” mosin had a lot going for that reputation at the time. 1. It was a bolt action, which meant it was simpler than other rifle types 2. It was cheap, so the assumption was something produced by the millions and only costing $50-200 must have been simple to produce 3. A lot of the problems might have been chalked up to having a rimmed cartridge and cosmoline. There’s also the aspect that people didn’t have a lot to compare to in depth, and until you guys started with being able to really compare the internals of multiple rifles, someone who had a mosin to compare to a carcano or Arisaka wasn’t likely going to share that information, or had no means to.

Regarding the sauce. Sometimes the taste of home doesn't travel very well and had an unfortunate accident while on the road! Also we used to have a problem at the gun range of my Sportsmen club, Sometimes in early spring, mowing would cause the tractor to bottom down in the mud between the 100yd and 200yd berms. Field drainage solved the issue but we used to joke that we had to do it soon before the EPA declared it a protected wetland habitat!

Sorry the sauce was a disaster, but it was worth it for the reactions. It is definitely potent on the vinegar, but it’s pretty good on some chickie nuggies. Thurmont isn’t too far from me so I’ll stop by Bollingers next time I’m headed down that way. The Apple Werthers are good, but there should have been some soft Maple flavored ones in there too. Someone at my workplace found them right as they were going out of season and I ended up hoarding a few bags. The originals are great, but the seasonal flavors have been amazing. I’m glad to hear the patented plastic pokies also were a hit.

Wegmans is a Buffalo based store that follows transplants down south lol The sponge candy and beef on weck is worth going for though. Sounds like the sauce is a weird version of Eastern NC vinegar sauce. Also was able to try the Maryland sauce, it was very good! They mentioned that they had been running out of it

I agree with Douglas. We need you both(Bruno too) to take care of yourselves. Thoroughly enjoy the podcasts. 👍

Keep going guys. That new studio will be done soon. Try to book yourself some down time once it is done. Unlikely I know but slow down, we need you!
