This isn't the SSR1 beta instructions, sorry. This is a hardware release as I am aware that time is moving on and I want to put something out this month. This is a cooling fan mount for SSR1.
Every stroker robot generates heat as it operates and SSR1 is no exception. With light usage heat usually doesn't seem to be a problem, but for some users adding a fan seems to be an essential feature. Whilst I designed SSR1 to be simple with a minimum part count I also did so with the intention of including this upgrade in the future. This is a modified base that accommodates a cooling fan and channels the airflow past the motor.
This mount should fit most 40x40mm PC fans. You can mount the fan with 4x M3x16mm countersunk bolts with nuts. The Fan housing itself is mounted to the base using 4x M3x25mm countersunk bolts, which screw into M3 inserts in the base. A 5v fan can be run off the 5v pin on the ESP32-S3, or else you can use the fan connection pins on the new SSR1 board!
The SSR1 beta instructions are most of the way done now, but as these are full step-by-step instructions I seriously underestimated the amount of work needed. I want to make sure that I cover everything and that the quality is at least as good as my previous documents. To do that I'll need a little bit more time, and I appreciate you guys being patient with me.

Using the same fan as your post with the SSR1 PCB. It's a 12v fan. Do I just connect it to the 12v pin on the opposite side of the board to the motor connections?

Paying member just to follow your work. I don’t want to get into 3D printing yet, but am curious if you are building units to sell personally, or more specifically just prototypes and improvements etc. If the latter, please point me in the direction of the builder for me. I’m getting lost on all the tcode machines now, between the ssr1, funsr1 with or without a twist, the osr, and the sr6. I’m “hard” on these robots, as I’ve destroyed two twist ring and pinion gear sets, a servo motor, and broken an ear off of the flashlight holder of an SR6 that I got one good month out of. Old faithful, the handy…survives hours upon hours of constant abuse beyond the overheating point when in Wi-Fi mode especially, and the abs plastic is incredibly durable. I’m looking for the builder who is printing with the highest quality media, or cnc machine shop aluminum builds, and would love something with the latest board which handles serial connection and either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. I know one of the two exist. I do apologize if my request doesn’t belong here and have been a quiet member for a while now. Sorry to hear that you and your loved ones keep getting sick. I must have the finest immune system on earth because I spend 12 hours in below zero temps, and then straight into a heated environment. 84+ hours a week since mid December.
