So resistances stack multiplicatively. Do stat bonuses from skills work that way too?

to be honest, not sure about others but I don't mind time skips per say, like you said, in this kind of the story they are necessarily. My problem here would be more about how you do them. When I think about time skips, they aren't just literally jumps in time, instead you sort of gloss over details, but still gives the relevant informations, sure you are already partially doing it, but it still feels lacklustre at best. Let's give an example of the previous time skip, we know she went around trying to get new skills, but did she try to level them or just left them there after getting them? We simply don't know because there is no information about it, even thou her way of thinking and knowledge should make her at least try to level them. I mean, even if it turned out she couldn't do it simply because of her instincts, it would be fine, because it was already established that her evolution can and will block her skill levels rise and that information can be written in just one paragraph. So to summarize, just give a bit more details about what happened during particular time skips.

Vladerag

People are unhappy with either one honestly. The reality might just be that I am not a good enough writer to do timeskips well. I tend to write far better about things I like than things I don't, and I generally view timeskips fairly negatively. Obviously, I can't avoid them in this kind of story though. I will take your advice though. Eventually, hopefully, I will get enough criticism from both sides that I end up in a happy medium. Thank you for reading!

Zackman2k12

Thanks so much! I'm cool with timeskips, but I agree with the above comment by Kevin

Kevin Caffrey

I don't mind the time skips, but I have a suggestion that I think would make them feel less rushed. Rather than a "hard" time skip, you can have a transition paragraph to make it smoother. A couple (rough) examples: "Idle musings aside, my preparations continued. Once my home was finished, I spent most of my time hunting and curing food. As the weeks and months passed, the temperature continued to drop. My hopes for a mild winter slipped away, but after two and a half months of hard work I had enough food stocked up that I could avoid going outside in the cold. And cold it was. Brutally cold. ..." It only adds a few sentences, but in my opinion it helps make the time skip flow. Another example: "....Actually, I probably wouldn’t have been able to butcher it with my hands considering how hard its fur is. Despite my new resistances, I was still uncomfortable leaving my house in the cold. I ate more as a Wyvern, but I still had plenty of food to last the rest of the winter, so I spent my time working to get the Skill: Manasense, which allowed me to sense mana like I had before. After that, it took a month of work to get the Mana Manipulation Skill. By that time, Spring had come! The snow was melting, the birds were singing, and a very awkward Wyvern was trying to learn to fly."

Dylan Coles

It just feels like this chapter is super rushed. That's why I figured a time-skip per chapter might be better. Still, I am excited for the next part of the story.

adam1

That was covered in one of the infodumps at the beginning of a previous chapter, why demihumans don't abuse race changes because of the increasing leveling requirements, but it is possible.

Luke Scheffe

They can only level their class while in demihuman form, but they can keep the benefits if they do an evolution to change into a pure monster form

Mr. Bigglesworth

If she doesn't become a Dragon this entire life will be a betrayal of the reader's reasonable expectations and a cruel twist to an otherwise decent story. I'm sure our beloved author would never do such a horrific thing to us. Ever.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Podi is being brutal because power levels can quickly creep to insane levels. Take immortality for instance, say she manages to become a Lich of some type. At that point, unless she does nothing for her entire Lichhood, the mere accumulation of 1 point here and there can turn into an ocean. Podi has to be brutal and cruel to prevent her turning Instant Ramen OP on day one.

gotag

podi so stingy...

Hugh

I actually like the way these time skips happen. She spends a couple of paragraphs explaining what she had been doing during the intermittent time and then gets on with the story.

lala jhones

So far, can't blame her because of the bad starter role, i feel like this may be a quick reincarnation and she hasn't done much for podi. Hope I'm wrong because I think this is her last beginner course life. Also, will she become a dragon? Wonder what color, im thinking black or green cause of poison and water breathing.

Hugh

If you look at the earlier increases in evolution though, they would increase her stats to match a larger sized creature. Like the Young Giant Monitor Lizard evolution would have given her +50 STR/END/VIT. It may be because she is still a hatchling though, she might not be much larger.

Mr. Bigglesworth

In before Ancient Elder Dragon Tier Evolution occurs, calling it now. Long live the the Draconic Overlords that will only give 1 Incarn Point from Podi!

Mani

Maybe if its based on a baseline of super amateur flight that could make sense, but so far it seems to me Skills are moreso amplifiers to skills, rather than being an expression of the skill itself.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Except we don't know what flight speed is, if it's like 1mph(playing devil's advocate here) it's not a major increase.

Mr. Bigglesworth

That's a very broken loophole right there.

Mani

10% flight speed per level seems excessive, depending on how hard it is to level up flying.

Escalatus

Having in mind her hunter stat growths from the previous chapter I believe that during the first time skip she reached hunter lvl 4 and then jumped to 9 in 1 fight. That is why all her stat growth from her class is in multiples of 5

Daniel Drake

this..... this is what I needed

Tim Stanglow

Well Flying (the Skill) makes it 5% easier to fly per Level. So first you would need to Level the Skill to 20, in order fly as any race. Probably easier to get the hyno toad skills first, then evolve into a flier.

Arkeus

I'm not sure what's going with her stats? Is the 'hunter' +10 to STR/etc supposed to be the cumulative gain for level 1-9 rather than the level 9 gain? because the latter doesn't make sense for her current stats.

Sekander

Probably monsters just cant get a class. That would say nothing about keeping a class though. Most likly a loophole

Dylan Coles

I understand the necessity of timeskips such as these, but they came out of nowhere. As advice for future lives that are similar to this one, maybe you should have a timeskip at the beginning of every chapter, and the chapter would be a highlight of cadence's life at the time. Even so, I'm looking forward to when cadence becomes evolved enough to communicate with the residents of the world

CryoHydra357

Wyverns aren't demihumans so why does she have a class?

Viva01

wait! so is a flying hypno toad possible now?!

Call0013

Cool chapter.

Viva01

freaky~ a tentacle mouthed turtle. thanks for the chapter.
