GuyMagoo

I kind of get what you mean about the chapter being weird. Maybe not for the same reason though. Not sure I agree with the path Cadance is taking this life

tibbish

Chapter felt fine to me author, don't beat yourself up too hard trying to be perfect!

Niloc

Thought this chapter was an ideal way of doing fast time skips, excluding the weird 2 days later thing. Thanks for the chapter!

Aldous Russell

Thanks! "slightly different from the human's" should be "humans' " "had fell over" should be "fallen"

K Hilliard

Sounds like it’s working as intended, then.

sparkc

It's not a joke that gets any traction with me, it just jars me each time I read it because "podi" is an unusual "word" and doesn't tend to flow well when used as a substitute for god, i.e podi-forsaken, podi-damned etc. It reads as awkward and clunky to me personally.

Ethan Norton

Dude Podi is her god and if something goes wrong she blames it on him. It’s like the main running joke

0xFFF1

Podi's a god's god.

0xFFF1

You only need to have a Vitality stat growth that outpaces your aging to be immortal, a mortal race could technically do it with enough leveling. Based on the typical lore for dragons they are immortal, and gain power as a simple consequence of aging. All we need is a bit of author fiat and it can be the case here as well.

sparkc

Please consider using the podi-for-god substitute a little less frequently. It a bit jarring and seeing it a few times a chapter is a bit much imo

EroNingen

Something something Podi is a huge "machine" that keeps track off/ controls/is the god of Universes. The perspective of the priestess from the start was from "inside" the "local" universe. Looking at Cadance revealed how her entire world view was just one of countless other universes, and that there is this thing controlling it all. They need extensive training to not go mad from perceiving the whole of their _own_ universe, and she got a view of countless others.

EroNingen

Yeah, that would be cool! High emperor Hewka, the Air Dragon. I'm a bit wary of the eternal sleep thing that elves do though, and how that would affect Cadence. Better than your companion for eons dying on you I suppose, but in practice not much different.

EroNingen

Speaking as a fellow writer I have to say that sometimes what you've written, while perfectly adequate prose, can be pretty far off from what you are trying to portray. And it can be very difficult to get the correct words down for that. That said I agree that this is still very good words from a reader perspective, and that sometimes good enough is good enough =)

Major Rager

She's still a young wyvern, who knows her stat gains further along.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Uh...no? She has nowhere near the Vitality Stat an Ancient Elf would have.

CryoHydra357

The Goddess can only tell the secrets to her younger brother. But Podi is way above their pay grade so she won't tell him, lest he begin to question his existence. A God realising they're not the most powerful being could be disastrous.

CryoHydra357

She's a Wyvern. A close cousin of Dragons. She probably lives twice as long as elves do.

K Hilliard

Exactly. Her suffering is our amusement.

Kevin Caffrey

I thought Alet (using the priestess’ body) told the priest of Scalus, who in turn talked to Ray? And after that Ray started treating Candace differently. Isn’t that kind of the priestess spilling the beans?

Luke Scheffe

What can the priestess actually share? Like, is she even able to make basic statements, like”That’s a wyvern” or is she just entirely restricted?

Hugh

Another great chapter! Thank you!

Mr. Bigglesworth

Oooh, I wonder if she'll share the Vitality that Elves have as they grow super super super old via some sort of arcane link with Ray, that would boost her time on the world to rather ridiculous levels.

Vladerag

Yes actually! Right after Chapter 40.

Vladerag

Sure, I can try to expand it a bit. Although I am not sure what I would do besides make a comedy bit out of it. Ivano saw through her and told Ray, and Ray told her party right off the bat so the only person in the party unaware of the whole situation was Cadence herself thinking she was being sneaky sneaky.

K Hilliard

Indeed, this should be the perfect chance for her to rake in those years, plus all the skill up points living that long would yield.

K Hilliard

"It was day three when I realised that my “act” had failed hard. They - the low B ranked adventuring party, Seeking the Horizon - were perfectly aware that I was as intelligent as a person and had been pretty much the entire time." Can we not gloss over this scene, or at least explain it a little more?? (Also, "realised" -> "realized")

SpaceGoddess76

Any chance we’ll be getting another “extra/side story” chapter soon?

Mr. Bigglesworth

Ancient Elder Dragon proto-build still going strong. More time=more PodiPoints!

Vladerag

I can guarantee that she won't *accidentally* gas any sentients. ;D

Senjo

Got chills at the priest part, nice chapter. Cant wait to see them adventuring!

Vladerag

Ivano was the one that saw through her. Ophia did as well, but she looked to closely at Podi and kinda hurt herself. However, Ophia can't actually tell anyone what she saw, Aleth is keeping it a secret even from the other gods.

0xFFF1

Kinda felt like an elder scrolls reference.

тђє v๏เ๔

This I'd really like to see! +1

Pyrefiend

Well that TRUTH went a bit over my head, but I got the message that Podi is a big deal.

0xFFF1

If Cadence can figure out how to use wind magic to talk, then it doesn't really matter if she stays as a monster for this life. They are recognizing her as sapient and civilized, so she's better off using her XP to become a dragon, and then a bigger dragon, and so on. It's good her partner is an Elf, because they're both likely to be immortal. After Cadence earns her spot at the top of the world, she can start introducing technology on a larger scale for those sweet Podi bonuses. This needs to be the life in which Cadence completely blows her previous age out of the water, even if it will require a fuckton of timeskipping.

BeatleNerd

You insult yourself and your work too much. It's much more than passable already.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Oh dear, hope she doesn't accidentally Mustard Gas any Sentients.

Kevin Caffrey

Ah interesting take on her relationship with the adventurers. I was sure you were going to go down the road of them thinking she’s a smart monster, but instead that priestess spilled the beans. I’m curious to see where you take it from here!

Zackman2k12

That was awesome! thanks vladerag!
