It just occurred to me, it's odd the Delaires went without a nandroid for so long, since you'd think Sterling could just lend them a temporary one. Surely, there must be nandroids trained for rental services, that seems like an obvious market. Anyway, not looking forward to all the metaphysical and existential horror if we get multiple nandroids with the same identity.

This episode feels jarring to me in so many ways. Both in universe and as to where the story is going. There are so many questions! Was Marcus called there just to listen? He doesn't seem to think the nandroids minds could be moved to another robot, or at least Emmy's. And that amount of paper tells me that robot probably won't be Emmy. Also, aren't they the perfect robots? The planned obsolescence thing makes sense as companies sell stuff, right? But those 'aura bracelets' and being 'overall better' than the already perfect nandroids... I'm not convinced. There are also the facts that Emmy's software was easy to access, that she was the only malfunctioning nan and that they were willing to offer mr. Delaire a replacement for free. If they are going to present the 2.0 nans at the Expo to families that know their nandroid is underperforming, that could make sense as marketing, but what about Sterling spending resources in 'treating' Emmy then? On the other hand, in terms of where I think the story is going. These new robots could have something to do with the value of 'experience' and 'memories' that Emmy and her friends have but these new ones may not. Showing why Sterling is wrong to look for 'perfection' while overlooking something important but unquantifiable. I wasn't thinking something like this would happen, but there's much yet to see. If you read this, sorry for the long rambling, I just have too many questions!

I'm not sure about that - since Emmy 2 is being created from Emmy's memories and has Emmy's personality, she'll be a perfect clone. Unless something goes wrong, the Delaires (especially not the gullible Mr Delaire) will have no way to tell the difference.

Hold on, Emmy's going to be at the Sterling Expo! That's going to be quite awkward. Also, since they don't need Emmy there to clone her, she and the Emmy Clone will coexist - thus, the new Emmy is a separate consciousness, and thus a different person! If they're creating new consciousnesses and disposing of the old bodies, that means that the cloning process "kills" the nandroid!

What would happen if Emmy meets her replacement? - if they even meet, could this replacement feel inferior to the real Emmy? What’ll the other nandroids think about this new model? - could they be stressed to be viewed as “useful”? - could they all eventually glitch like Emmy? - if the rest of them become outmodes, would they be able to find Emmy?

I knew those memory uploads were leading to something like this, though I didn’t expect them to be so forthright about reuploading her! They really do think of nandroids as no different than a laptop where you carry over the data—but worse for the users in this case since the data nandroids carry is extremely personal 😬 Which means If Emmy hadn’t gotten lost, they would have shut her down, right? This is spiraling toward something terrible for poor Emmy 😥

I had always wondered if Sterling had the ability to ‘copy and paste’ a robot’s data, memories and personality into a different body. Wonder if it’s actually that or if they’re trying to be slick. Makes you wonder if they keep all nandroid’s memories uploaded and saved into a database to prepare for future consumer upgrade purchases. 🤨
