This can only end badly, but she's so cute for trying!

I've burnt towels the exact same way (not my proudest moment)

The mitt is laying fairly isolated on a flat stove top and kitchen counter. So even if the counter is theoretically flammable, it's probably not gonna burn the house down. Or at least, the fire alarm will probably get the parents to put it out before that happens, I imagine. But I guess an overcautious sprinkler system could cause a lot of additional damages if they have one.

I guess I can say I'm lucky for not knowing what color that mixed laundry is gonna come out with. I suppose I'd guess the whites will be some kind of brownish pale hue due to the reds and greens, but that's not an experiment I've run so far.

She gonna get in trouble

My dad did the exact same thing with our dishwasher. My mom was NOT happy.π Madeline is doing her best and is trying to be helpful. What's childhood if not with good-intentioned accidents?π

You know what they say about good intentions?

I hope this doesn't end as I imagine it will :(

The parents can still look at Madeline's attempt at helping at something good. Maybe even help her and encourage her to keep going, so she can get better at it and be more independent, and not burn and flood the house next time.
Glissando365
The only thing that could top off her efforts is if someone goes to open the closet and gets buried in the junk avalanche

It seems to me to be the first time that a fluorescent color, the green in the last page, appears in this pastel-palette story. And it looks great!

My heart is melting π₯Ήβ¦ just as much as the Delaire house is burning.

I sadly feel this is gonna spur the family onto accepting the "NOT" Emmy a lot faster π°

Oh no! Madeline youβre supposed to read the instructions first!

Oh no...dear Madeline, at least you tried :(
AnimationFan15
I can relate to the dishwasher incident, because I tried it before. Apparently, you can't use dish soap in the dishwasher; you need to use a type of soap that isn't as sudsy. But poor Madeline. That pampered lifestyle do be hindering her ability to do basic household chores.
