I admire Emmy for refusing to let a change in circumstances alter her values or sense of identity. But when you see that Emmy, in her mind’s eye, imagines that she still has her original right arm, I worry that she’s not allowing her vision of herself to evolve to actual changes in her life. Never sure when resolve is just obstinance, or when successfully enduring is actually just failing to adapt.
