Rara sat on a bar stool and eagerly tore open another bag of candy, which she munched while Lena reached out to fix her hat.
“We’ll be late for the 2:30 sea lion show if we don’t leave now,” Lena pointed out, and Rara threw down her candy and scooted off her stool to collect her fish from the fridge.
Kara and Lena shared a silent look, each of them debating who should handle this conversation until Lena cleared her throat. “Rara, actually, the zoo already supplies the fish for the sea lions. We won’t be allowed to feed them any of this, but we won’t let it go to waste.”

Rara hid her disappointment by shoving the fish back into the fridge and declaring, “At least we get to see them. This is still good.”

In fact, the excitement Lena had expected from Rara upon setting foot inside the actual zoo never reached its peak, and Rara’s perplexed expression only deepened as they stopped by the enclosure for the lemurs.
Kara chuckled at the frisky animals, pointing out their ringtails, but Rara refused to smile.
The alpha looked so close to being upset that Lena took her hand and asked, “Is something wrong? You don’t seem happy to be here.”
Rara pressed her lips together, and shifted on the spot before admitting. “I do not understand why they are prisoners. They are being punished inside the glass box?”

Lena tried her best to soothe all of Rara’s pure hearted concerns, but the Super had more questions about the animals’ predicament.
“So they can visit with the other animals?” Rara asked suspiciously, her eyes narrowed as she took in the other nearby exhibits and pointed to the meerkats.
Sensing a plan forming in Rara’s mind, Lena hurried to quash it before all hell broke loose in the zoo. “Well no, the animals are kept with members of their own species because otherwise they might fight and hurt each other. They each have a place where they belong, and by coming here to see them, we’re all paying for their care.”
Rara fell silent as she considered the new information, but her big eyes were still troubled as she gazed at Lena. “But they are happy like this?”
