How about drinking in public? I know it’s quite common but I have been told “against the law” but never checked it out to be true or not.

It’s not a race issue but just the fact you are a foreigner. That’s the rules of China, you are a visitor in their country so just have to abide by the rules. Personally I don’t have an issue with it, I don’t do anything against the rules so it’s not a problem.

It happened to me in Beijing but my Chinese family calmed me down and said it was not race thing.
