TE-65A Sharurä A.I. gunship Luftwaffe style spotted camo paint
🕑 Added 2022-05-27 17:43:18 +0000 UTCHere's a collection of photos of a new painted print of the Sharurä A.I. gunship. This is, of course, somewhat similar to the Sharurä box art, though a bit different as well, with white wing and tail markings and just the bit of yellow on the nose (very Messerschmitt BF109).
This one was painted with a Tamiya Light Blue (Luftwaffe) rattle can basecoat and AK pigment faded green pigment top coat. Because the green is a powder based pigment to make the spotted camo all I did was use a kneaded eraser to dab the blotches into the green (erasing essentially). The approach works really well considering these aren't terribly big, at eh size I have been printing them. The markings were Tamiya Matt white and Yellow (gloss) spray, masked. The weathering and shading were additional AK pigments.
Now that I'm feeling better and free of the Covid speed bump I've been busy working on a lot of new stuff. I have several more prints in the process of painting so they will drop soon enough. Also more Three Nine Line screencap art on the way and June's STL fighter will be the Ballista C-2 variant.

Agreed on the sanding. I've been painting these as fast as I can in general, and this one pretty quick to to catch up, that I have been skipping sanding the layer lines, which I shouldn't. I usually see the lines on the tail fins but often don't see the lines elsewhere until I start painting. I think I've done enough of these, as to experimenting with various paints that it's time to do some taking a good bit more time for the best possible results. As for a tutorial, I might paint up the 121% Navaja print and go step by step with the process in photos and some form of tutorial text. I had considered doing one at some point so not a bad idea :)

Great paint job! A bit of 400-600 grit sanding film will erase those layer lines on the vertical stabilizers and intake cowlings. I have some AK pigment and for sure will try some of that out in lieu of oil pin washes. Another fine paint job; I think a short painting tutorial wouldn't be a bad idea to show folks how to get the same sort of results you do.
