At the end of the ceremony, Hank Henshaw locked up the building and pocketed the silver key with a promise that he would open the doors again no later than nine o’clock the next morning.

“We will educate our children differently, and they will know how to form opinions of their own. In the meantime, we shall continue to be advocates for change and set only the best example.” Lena marked out their path with confidence and with the certitude that they as a couple would influence the laws and traditions before they would ever accept stagnation and lack of progress. It has steeled you and made you stronger, but you have me now. You can tell me of all your troubles, Kara, and I will listen and never judge. Let me hold you and soothe your fears always.”
It was difficult to determine if her pleas would be scoffed at or dismissed, but as Kara pressed closer, Lena felt her mate nod and the tenderest tears of concession upon her shoulder.

I can’t decide if Henshaw is the good version or the bad version of himself which worries me about his motives. I also have a strong feeling if he doesn’t know that Kara is a woman he suspects it. All of that combined as me on edge every time I read a new chapter. It was nice to see the softer side of Kara and Lena too. It always makes me smile when Kara lets that persona slip away and her walls come down so that she can just BE. I love their connection so much!

Every time a new chapter is dropped im thrown into a rollercoaster of emotions while reading it. I feel so much for Lena, doesn't matter if she's submissive for once or on one of her sprees against Lockwood or any other bad guy. In the middle of all this drama it's seriously hotter than hot and speckled with humor. Kara is thawing more and more. Can't wait to see what Hank is up to (why do I think it's no good?). I somehow have no fear for the pups. More for Kara's identity. I'm sure our ladies will make sure the future will look bright for their kids.

This might be a little strange but despite this being a historical I feel like this story is one of the most true to character version of them. Kara being obstinate and head strong yet only wanting to keep people safe and Lena being kind and caring but definitely a “ends justify the means” sort of gal really shine in this and the beginning argument shows it so so well. Always love to see flawed characters they’re so interesting that way!! And then they come to an agreement and understand it’s then it’s So Hot and So Soft and I just wanna wrap them both up in a hug there at the end ugh. UGH I LOVE THIS ONE DEARLY.
