They ushered him back outside to his parents, and Kara gave the kid some extra treats to keep him busy before gathering an audience by performing juggling tricks.
“It’s time for the Easter bunny to visit some other children,” Lillian called out twenty minutes later, finally freeing Kara from her self-imposed obligation. Several children wailed while other’s flung themselves at Kara, and Lena softened at how patient she was with each of them.
“This isn’t becoming a new tradition.” Lena grumbled when she caught her mother’s approving look. “Next year Kara can enjoy herself with the rest of us and you can hire a backup to run around out there.”
“So you are serious about her! That’s wonderful news. She’ll be an excellent sire. All of the children loved her,” Lillian crowed, delighted by the prospect of grandchildren.
Not just the kids, Lena thought as she caught her lip between her teeth. She embraced the warmth that tingled throughout her frame and seized all of her courage to finally confront Kara about their dating status.
She stalked across the garden in hot pursuit of the alpha and led her back upstairs and into the bedroom.
“Kara, we need to talk about our relationship,” Lena blurted, her cheeks puffed and arms crossed to hide her vulnerability.
“Oh.” Kara wheezed, her voice subdued as she pulled the head off her suit and blinked owlishly at Lena. “What’s wrong? Did the costume awaken something for you?”
Kara’s teasing grin brought a dopey smile to Lena’s face and shook herself out of her feelings to slap her on the arm. “Shut up, I’m being serious–”
“So am I,” Kara lilted, raising her brows like she had asked a valid question.
“No, it’s—” Lena flung up her hands in frustration and exclaimed, “we’ve never discussed what we are, and I need to know how you feel, because I — don't laugh at me!”
“Lena, what are you talking about?” Kara choked out, her joy fading as she caught the distressed scent of Lena’s omega. “We’ve been dating since Christmas. I’ve told everyone you’re my girlfriend. Did you think I was just hooking up with you this whole time?”
Lena clenched her teeth and began to shake her head to distract from the fact that she was hormonal, lovesick and about to cry from happiness. “No — I mean, yes, that is exactly what I thought. I seduced you so I wouldn’t have to put up with my mother’s lectures over the holidays, and I wasn’t sure if you were just sticking around because you liked the physical side of the relationship—”
Kara reached out to take her hands and ran her thumb over Lena’s palm in soothing little circles. “I guess I should be blunt when it comes to expressing my feelings to avoid any more confusion between us. I’m head over heels in love with you, Lena, and it would have been really awkward if we hadn’t cleared this up right now, because I was planning to ask you to move in with me at the end of May.”
The thought of moving in with Kara didn’t quite set off Lena’s phobia of doing anything her mother would enthusiastically support.
“We would see each other every day,” Lena considered, too practical to pour all of her hope into a hypothetical just yet.
She wondered how that possibility would go in hand with her life goals, and whether she would continue her work as a scientist, or if her famous alpha would just parade her around to parties. At one point in time, Lena scoffed at omegas who strived to become trophy wives, but she could see a future for herself on Kara’s arm and she didn’t hate it.
“I thought maybe you could fly with me to Amsterdam for a tech conference in June. I’ll be presenting the products I’ve been working on for two years and it would mean a lot to me.” Kara smiled and her eyes shined with a secretive gleam of happiness that Lena attributed to all of the many gadgets she was planning to reveal.
“I would love that, but please don’t utter a word to my mother,” Lena begged, oblivious to the fact that Lillian herself was standing in the doorway and overheard their plans.
“A little late for that,” Lillian intoned strictly, her lips taut with a smile and her arms folded over her chest as she leaned into the doorway. “I came to call you both down for dinner.”
Lena eyed her mother, who crossed the room to take Kara’s hand and personally escorted her to the stairs.
“Kara, I think it’s wonderful you’ve invited Lena to accompany you,” Lillian praised, leaving her daughter to trail behind them and dropping her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “I also couldn’t help but catch your discussion about moving in together. I’ll start sending you boxes of her things.”
Lena forced her chin out as far as it would go and pictured her mother meticulously packing up all of her possessions to marry her off.
“Calm down, mother,” Lena hissed and rescued Kara before their conversation turned to more serious topics, or Lillian rushed her girlfriend into proposing.
They were dating, and Lena was more than content with that for now. She looked forward to a long spring of mating and getting to know Kara on a deeper level with the security of love and commitment between them.

No worries at all! I'm delayed in replying to your comment because I've been writing a lot this weekend! I'm happy you loved it and that you're enjoying the continuation of this one! It's not always easy to maintain them being dense when they're hooking up multiple times per chapter, but that's a trope I enjoy myself. 😂 I figured it'd be fun to have Lillian heckle Lena and trap Kara into playing the Easter bunny, rather than just asking Kara outright - and of course Kara is gonna volunteer because she's not going to subject Lena to that suit. I feel like Lillian is in a lot of my stories coming up... Sex in the Suburbs, BOE, and she is a delight to write. Thank you! Someone help me come up with a title that fits with the series for a 4th of July update. 😭

Sorry for the delay in commenting, work is hectic right now. So when I had time to read this baby, I indulged heavily. Like read and reread and yes! I loved this! So my favorite part about this that Lena thought that they weren’t official but Kara did lol you hit all my tropes all the time! I’m all amazed. The overall concept of Kara volunteering to even entertain the children is precious. Like she’s really mate material lol. My favorite thing about this whole series is Lillian Luthor. I love Good!Luthors stories and I absolutely love when Lillian is a great mom. And I love when she’s overly meddlesome about Lena’s love life. It’s just so funny. Can’t lie, this all started with my prompt and it’s turning out to be one of my favorite series’ by you. I cannot wait for the next one!!

I almost skipped over this one in favor of working on other things, but they are rather fun and the holiday spirit moved me. 😊 Plus we couldn't miss out on the opportunity for Kara to dress like a giant rabbit. Lillian fully hooked them up -- she's basically ready to give Kara her daughter's hand in marriage. 😁 Lolol, oh yeah, I think eating dry food & dressing up in a ridiculous costume was worth it on Kara's part.
It felt like a ridiculous but important addition to the story. 😂 It's all fun and games until the kid tells someone that Lena was locking the Easter bunny in the kitchen. And yeah! The bunny suit scene seemed like a necessary detail to add. 😁 Though I did google bunny suits and let me tell you, they're horrifying. Like that giant head is NOT flattering or cute for any costume I saw. 😂 We're going to pretend that Kara's suit was exceptionally adorable though, okay? Glad everyone agrees. I just love these holiday stories. I went back and read the 1st 2 before I read this one. 😁. Kara as the Easter bunny was so much fun. She’s such a happy & obliging Alpha. She’s so much in love with Lena. I’m glad they got their relationship status worked out. I laugh my ass of at how Lillian doesn’t even try to be subtle. King size bed, I’ll start packing her stuff,etc… 🤣🤣. P.S. getting fucked by the Easter Bunny in the pantry was soooo hot. Then I laughed my ass off at Kara having to eat dry food. I’ve completely forgotten everything I was going to say because as soon as Lillian asked Kara to be the Easter Bunny I had a terrifying image of Kara fucking Lena IN COSTUME and could not stop giggling (in relief? In delight? Who’s to say) when they just banged before getting dressed. ALAS MY INITIAL FEARS WERE CORRECT GIANT HEAD AND ALL 😂😂😂 I have not laughed that hard at a sexy concept in forever oh my god. “Did it awaken something in you” Kara Danvers you fucking dork.
