Lena started to shut all of the drawers and paused to lean heavily into the counter at Kara’s mention of the cake. “You mean the special one you make for my birthday every year?”

I honestly meant to update this one much sooner! I felt inspired to continue it as soon as I wrote Part 2. I’m looking forward to writing more jealous Kara in this one and in general. It might take Kara a while to realize Lena’s feelings because it's just so fun to write her in the current predicament. Regarding claims and marriage: I think with what I've set up so far in both verses, they are important for different reasons. In BOE, Lena holds claim over Kara and vice versa, but this is seen as unconventional. In Sex in the Suburbs, Kara has just claimed Lena. Claiming entails a commitment, but in these two stories, I see it as a bit more one sided and possessive, even though it creates a biological link. Marriage is more of a two way commitment with an extra ceremony, and it creates a symbolic link. Having two forms of commitment is better than one. Thank you so much! It’s hard to prioritize which things should be updated when I want to write them all. I do really try to make sure that I'm updating the ones that people seem the most enthusiastic about reading, though.
