Hey everyone,
I hope you're all doing okay - I don't dare say well given all that is happening in the world, but alas... here is the typical post where you can share your prompts in the comment box below.
Please make sure to stipulate whether you would like ABO (and who is the alpha and who is the omega), or if you'd prefer GP or non-ABO. For now, it's one prompt per person, but if you have any ideas you're just bursting to share with me, you can send those in private message!
I've decided to make an important change to how I execute the monthly stories, too.
With the way I'm doing it now, I usually know the prompt I'm writing by the second week of the month, and then I post the finished product before the end of the month.
Given the quality of the prompts I've been getting recently, I've noticed that I want to engage with them more - and that means a longer story for you all to read. Some prompts lend themselves to fics of about 6,000 - 8,000 words, typically those with a heavier smut theme. But others require additional development, and I've written several in the past year that are over 10,000 words. This takes a little more time, and sometimes will lead to me pulling all-nighters at the end of the month for about 2-3 days in a row when I'm juggling the monthly story and other updates.
To avoid that, but also give you the better quality stuff, I'm going to say I'll post the prompt story in the month that follows - so our February story is posted today and our March story will be posted in April. That might not always happen, because sometimes I'm just inspired by a new idea and I usually do start the prompt story immediately after finding out what it will be, but this past weekend I just had an epiphany that giving myself a little more lead-time would be smarter because it means I can keep the quality high and I won't have to compromise if there are additional scenes I want to write. I very often run into situations where I have to omit things I wanted to include just for the sake of time.
On the topic of the Non-ABO story prompt: that will be posted this month. I wanted to give a little explanation of why it took a bit to write it: the 'soulmate' prompt was something I thought a lot about in a Non-ABO story context in the past, and I had a particular idea in mind for it. Occasionally this is useful because I can just write without stopping - and other times this leads to severe writer's block. It's one of the few ways I get blocked, in fact - because nothing I write compares to what I had in mind originally. This was one of those situations, and in the end I just had to scrap what I wrote and then execute an entirely different idea.
On the topic of Alpha Lena: I'll be doing another poll for an Alpha Lena story this month. I'm also writing another Alpha Lena fic, and I'm going to continue Name Your Price with a third chapter fairly soon.
On the topic of WIPs and story continuations:
1. I have too many WIPs.
2. I've thought about several solutions, including the possibility of shoving some aside entirely to favor others, or focusing on one in particular to the exclusion of the others.
3. I came to the conclusion that just shoving aside certain WIPs would probably hamstring my ability to be somewhat prolific, because part of the reason I can write so much fic in a month is by keeping it fresh and switching between stories. I don't write most of these stories linearly - I always have multiple documents open at once and I switch between them. I'm aware this isn't how it's supposed to be done, but it works for me.
4. I still don't know what to do to keep people 100% happy in this regard, but I will offer you a 'continuation prompt' poll this month, where you can jump in and tell me explicitly which stories you want me to continue. When I do this, I've tried to accommodate everyone's wishes as much as possible, but this particular continuation prompt submission poll will guarantee an update of a particular fic, whichever one wins -- so stay tuned for it and tell me what you'd like to read. Depending on which story it is, it'll be posted either this month or early next.

So when promposals roll around, it doesn’t occur to her that her social stance doesn’t afford her any kind of audience with the beautiful and intelligent Lena Luthor.
