Kara knew when it was better to let the omega handle the fabrications in their relationship. She stood by and partly ducked behind Lena, letting the cheerful smile on her face persuade her older sister that nothing was amiss.
“There’s marshmallows!” Kara added and threw her hand in the air out of genuine excitement. “I saw them earlier. We should go roast marshmallows. We didn’t get to do that yet.”
Lena grabbed her by the arm before she blurted out any other nervous exclamations. “Come on, let’s all go.”
The three of them walked out into the cool summer night air and Lena grabbed a blanket from the back of the car. Alex pulled out a few extra lawn chairs that they set up near the blazing bonfire.
“I’ll go look for sticks to roast your marshmallows. Be right back.” Lena gestured towards the trees and took off before Kara could mention that she wanted to join her.
Sam headed over to them, her scent mild but accusatory as she stopped in front of Alex. “Hey, did you forget about me?”
“No, of course not,” Alex sighed and threaded her fingers into her short hair, holding it out of her face as she tried to apologize. “I went to the bathroom and then I tried to find Kara and
Lena. I promised Mrs. Luthor I’d look out for them.”
“It’s true. Lillian hasn’t let Lena out of her sight all summer,” Kara piped up, her sweaty complexion all to do with the guilt she felt from causing friction between them.
The bonfire crackled and roared as alphas flung more wood onto it, and the flickering light cast shadows on Alex’s moody face.
“Why the hell not?” Sam asked, appalled on Lena’s behalf. Her concern trumped her annoyance with Alex, and she hesitated for a few seconds before deciding to sit on Alex’s lap.
The awkwardness of their earlier interaction crept onto Alex’s face and she looked completely lost as to where to put her hands until Sam grabbed one and laced their fingers together.
“I presented as an alpha, so now she doesn’t trust me anymore.” Kara explained and cringed at the obvious surprise on Sam’s face.
“I can’t imagine why,” Alex spat sarcastically, her eyes tracking Lena as she sauntered over with a couple of sticks and half a bag of marshmallows. The bite on her throat had bruised nicely, and the dark hues were unmistakable on Lena’s pale skin, even at night.
Lena flaunted it with pride and didn’t bat an eye when she slid onto Kara’s lap and held up her bounty like it was something elicit to share. “Don’t tell James, but I found his stash of chocolate stuffed mallows. Who wants one?”
“Stick me,” Sam called out and reserved her judgments – unlike Alex, who gaped at the audacity of how they were sitting together.
Lena prepared several marshmallow skewers and passed them out. They served as a good distraction as she pulled an oversized blanket over her lower half and shimmied her pants off.
It all unfolded like a magician’s trick, a sleight of hand that no one realized except for Kara. She almost stuffed a marshmallow that was still on fire straight into her mouth when she felt Lena’s pussy.
Lena smiled down at her and moved again to tug open Kara’s belt. Two more careful pulls, and Kara’s pants opened to leave her cock bare beneath the blanket.
