News must have spread fast among all of the cheerleaders, because Lena spotted her closest friends at the end of the hall. Sam looked pale and worried, and that was the reason Lena about-faced and walked to the elevator. Lena had no words to justify her dishevelled, nerdy look, and she handled Cat’s criticism by nodding sharply. She grabbed Kara by the back of the jacket and pulled her out of the office before Cat could find a reason to dismiss her as captain.
“Hey, are you okay?” Kara breathed out in worry and slipped her arms around Lena’s back to hug the panic away.
“I’m fine now that I know my education isn’t on the line.” Lena sighed and disentangled herself from Kara to glance around the vacant gym. “Victoria reported me to the Dean, but I don’t have any regrets about how I acted. I finally feel like I’m doing the right thing. I don’t regret defending you.”

Walking across campus reminded her of uncomfortable days in middle school and the years before she ever had a social life. Lena slid against the wall and sank down against its cool surface to hear the last of the lecture.

Dean Danvers let out a soft noise of disagreement and loosened from her stiff posture. “You might have to give up your role as peer mediator if you continue to see her. Think it through, Kara. You want to be a psychologist. You were able to secure a great internship next year because of everything you’ve already achieved.”
Lena bent forward with her arms resting on her knees and sickness churning in her stomach. She realized she was going to have to break up with Kara Danvers, and not for any of the reasons she first assumed. Sam was def concerned, and she will be around in the next chapter to kind of clarify her stance on the whole issue. Lena does need to fix it!

STARTED OFF SO WELL ONLY TO GET CLOTHESLINED WITH FEELINGS AT THE END UGH!! Lena was doing so well opening up and taking steps Eliza Kara’s doing great!! Definitely an unconventional method but STEPS ARE BEING MADE! Curious where Lena and Sam’s friendship(?) goes from here honestly if Sam was that worried about Lena’s position as captain.
