Lena Luthor never liked participating in press conferences or being the center of attention in front of flashing cameras. She did her fair share of it due to her family. Their notoriety was one of the reasons that the producers of Bite at First Sight wanted her for the show. The other, they claimed, had to do with her soft spoken video submission in which she described her search for a mate.
I’m judged and hated for reasons beyond my control. All I want is someone to give me a fair chance, and if love comes from it, then there will be two less lonely people in the world.
She fidgeted throughout the short recording, playing with her hands and sliding the hair from her shoulder. The vulnerability shined in her eyes and formed in her sad smile.
Her best friend Sam reviewed the footage before she sent it off. “God, look at your face. Even I want to take you home.”
Lena fluttered her lashes and put out her hand. “Well, your guest room is my favorite place to crash, and I hope you’re prepared to help me pick up the pieces if this doesn’t work out. I might end up single and even more lonely at the end of all of this.”
“Don’t say that,” Sam scolded in a quiet, comforting voice. “Saying that is getting off to a bad start.”
Lena poured herself another glass of wine to cope with her feelings about volunteering herself to be married to a complete stranger. “I’m just so sick of being at bars and hearing the whispers. The alphas that approach me must all have some kind of humiliation kink. They like to make rude comments and see the flustered look on my face. The ones that don’t are sometimes even worse.”
She realized that she could meet someone like that through this experience, but the person would have to be vetted carefully.
Not even a day went by before she heard back from the show runners.
By the end of the week, she packed her bags for an extended honeymoon and wondered how her family would react to receiving the news by wedding invitation. Her mother tried to call her a total of 62 times, which she ignored. She only had two friends — Sam, and her secretary, Jess, who promised to support her through the experience.
The wedding would take place at one of the finest Californian resorts, and Lena could Google all of the details of the event. Except of course for her fiancée’s name.
She imagined a lot of different types meeting her at the altar – a tall and clever someone who wouldn’t mind the constant hype of the media around her family.
The Luthor Family ran as a series for twelve consecutive seasons, and her momager Lillian worked out all kinds of brand deals. Her brother Lex negotiated a spin-off with a streaming service, and his face appeared on billboards all throughout the continental US. He stared down on the “common people” with his sunglasses pulled down and his dead-behind-the-eyes look that so many omegas mistook for sex appeal.
He called her the minute he found out about her attempt to defect from the Luthor family. “Sis, please tell me this is all a joke and just your way of screwing mom over.”
“While that would be a logical first motive, I’m doing this for me, Lex.” Lena continued walking and picking out various items for her wedding while on the phone.
She pointed to specific champagne glasses, sampled the wine for the honeymoon and ordered a selection of chocolates to be brought to the resort.
“So, you’re serious?” Lex asked with clear surprise in his voice. “Wow. Mom is going to lose her mind. Naturally that means I’m in.”
Lena paused her browsing to blink down at her phone. She tucked it against her ear to sample one of the decadent chocolates and wondered if her fianceé would have a sweet tooth. “What do you mean you’re in?”
“Well you’re going to need a best man right? Who better than your big brother to stand by your side on the most important day of your life.”
His self assured assumption that Lena would of course want him to be part of the televised ceremony was so quintessentially Lex that she wasn’t even surprised.
“You just want a front row seat to the drama mother will cause.”
“Well, yes, but I still want to support you in this big life decision. Two birds and all that,” Lex explained with obvious amusement.
She could picture her brother’s grinning face and maniacal glint in his eyes that only ever lit up when trouble was afoot.
“You’re terrible and that’s an awful idea. Mother will threaten to disown you. When can you fly out here?”
“I’m already in the air. We’ll be landing in what, an hour?” Lex paused no doubt to check his watch and then laughed down the line. “I can’t believe you’re getting married.”
“If they say yes,” Lena corrected, and self-consciously pulled at the sleeve of her shirt.
There was a huge chance the alpha would stand her up once they found out who she was and what family they would be marrying into, and the worry of that had kept her up at night.
“For all I know they might bail the second they realize who I am.”
“Oh please, there’s no alpha alive stupid enough to turn you down.” Lex scoffed at the notion. “And if there is, I'll remind them you’re the good Luthor in the family.”
The immediate reassurance soothed Lena’s omega and she laughed at her brother’s posturing. “Come on, Lex, you can’t throw a punch. You go for more manicures than I do.”
“I didn’t say I would get my hands dirty,” Lex insisted, as if the thought repulsed him. “Isn’t that what sycophants are for? I’ll call you when I land.”
Lena was still chuckling long after he hung up, and it hit her all at once that she wasn’t going to back out on her plan. Soon she would be a claimed omega, and her life would finally be in her own hands.
She learned from production that her mother reached out to fill up the rest of her guest seats. Other than that, she evaded her mother’s efforts to make contact.
No one was prepared for her wedding day, but Lena faced it with all of the accoutrements of a bride. She borrowed a clip to put in her hair and chose a vintage veil that touched the floor. Her ivory dress had a clinging bodice and a beautiful skirt that swished around her.
Nerves fluttered in her stomach for hours beforehand, and she relied on her best friends squeezing her hand to get her through it.
“You’re going to be happy, Lena,” Sam whispered as a final send-off and brushed a loose strand of hair from her face.
The notes of her wedding march began, and Lena drifted into the hall with cameras following her and Sam holding the train of her gown.
Everyone looked at her from long rows of wood benches under drapings of white flowers and vines. Lena moved forward under tall arbors and listened the murmur of the crowd as she saw the alpha that would be hers. Her first impressions surely counted for a lot — and she couldn’t believe that her mate was physically her ideal.
Kara Danvers stood tall with her hands folded in front of her. Even in a tux, the ripple of her biceps could be seen from far away, and she softened upon noticing Lena.
Once they saw each other, neither of them could glance away, and Kara put out her hand to help her up the steps of the altar.
“Wow, I can’t believe how lucky I am,” Kara breathed out in greeting and shyly looked Lena up and down. “I’m Kara. Kara Danvers.”
“Kara,” Lena repeated and balanced her bouquet in one hand so she could hug her fiancée. The name rolled off her tongue pleasantly, and Kara radiated a good energy that put her at ease. “I’m Lena Danvers, if you’ll have me.”
“Danvers. Why do I recognize that name?” Lex muttered in the background.
The marriage celebrant cleared his throat and smiled as he read off his notes. “We are here today thanks to two people who come from different worlds, but who understand and value the same things. Lena is looking for her soulmate — who will love and hold her in times both good and bad. Kara wants to marry someone who will be her home.”
Between the bright lights and blinding sun, Lena’s pulse rang louder in her ears than the celebrant's words. She refused to glance at the crowd for fear of catching her mother’s disapproving stare, or worse, seeing the same look on her soon-to-be in-law’s faces. She clung to her bouquet with sweaty palms and swayed slightly from nerves right up until the celebrant announced that Kara had written her own vows.
There was something sweet in the way Kara reached for her hand again, stopping just shy of touching her so it was up to Lena to fully grasp her hand. The tentative smile on Kara’s face was like a beacon of hope to Lena, and it became radiant when their eyes met.
“Lena, for the longest time I wanted to find someone who would value who I am above what I am. I may not be the alpha you imagined you’d marry, but I promise from this day on, your opinions will always matter. I will never lose my temper with you, or make you feel like a lesser partner in this union. I won’t make any demands of you because your happiness will be just as important as mine. If you choose me today, I will spend the rest of my life honoring and supporting you with all my heart.”
Kara’s sincerity eased the last of Lena’s doubt and her vision blurred as tears threatened to ruin her carefully applied mascara. She squeezed Kara’s hand, and the celebrant began asking her questions that ultimately led to the final answer she would give as an unclaimed omega. “Lena Luthor, do you take Kara Danvers as your alpha?”
“I do.”
Lena’s lips spread in a wide smile, and she moved in close to embrace her mate. Kara stooped forward to kiss her, and they drank each other in before their mouths merged. She braced herself for awkwardness, some teeth clashing or too much tongue. Kara put an end to that worry by holding her cheek and reciprocating her slow passion and warmth. “I know it’s tradition to celebrate with family and friends, but I chose our seating to be far removed from the other guests.” Lena treaded carefully in her heels and showed Kara to a stairwell that took them up an entire flight to their table. “It’s a precaution in case my mother tries to slip something into your drink.”
Kara chuckled over the casual threat to her life and peered over the balcony-edge that kept them out of the way. “I actually met her right before the ceremony. She gave me her blessing.”
“They must have hired someone else as her stand-in.” Lena clasped the ledge of the balcony and caught Lillian’s steely eyes on her.
“Is now a bad time to tell you I asked for the introductions?” Kara’s worry caused a crinkle between her brows, and she puffed her cheeks out as she regarded Lena. “The production team mentioned there might be a scene at our wedding, so I might have requested to meet your mother beforehand to smooth things over.”
“And you’re still alive after that? What did she say?” Lena demanded and turned to give Kara her full attention.
Kara didn’t strike Lena as the type to boldly walk into danger and her bashful demeanor was all the more intriguing when coupled with that.
“Oh, you know, that if I break your heart, she will personally make sure mine stops beating.” Kara’s cavalier way of explaining their interaction was comical, and she shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal to be issued death threats to her face.
Lena gaped at the alpha and tried to fathom why she hadn’t run off. “And you still agreed to go on with the wedding when she threatened you like that?”
Kara poured them both a flute of champagne and offered one to Lena like she assumed she was in shock. “Why let a little animosity get in the way of finding true love?”
“You have no idea who I am, do you?” Lena drawled in suspicion and narrowed her eyes at Kara’s natural positivity. She sipped her drink and wondered if the smile on Kara’s lips would fade when she realized the kind of family she married into, and how their privacy would always be under attack.
“My wife?” Kara stated and peered over the ledge to see that Lillian was still hawkishly staring up at them like she was trying to lip read. “I know you’re a reality TV star, but I— gosh, this is awful—I never watched your show. I did however hire a private car in case the media attention became too much, and you wanted to get out of here.”
Lena sussed out most of her mate’s motives just from that limited conversation and from their talk in the car.
Kara was born into wealth and inherited the family company from a young age. She had no social media accounts apart from a private blog that she used to collect photos of food and dogs.
Gaining fame and fortune weren’t at the top of Kara’s list of priorities, and Lena began to wonder what her alpha was lacking in other areas that could make Bite at First Sight her ideal way of finding an omega.
Lena pondered the different possible reasons in their suite while she changed into a bikini for the pool.
Her first assumption was some kind of physical flaw – although going for a swim cleared that up. Kara stepped out of the bathroom with a towel around her waist, and Lena gasped as soon as it dropped.

She knew how she wanted to spend the wedding night, but she didn’t want to have any regrets, either.
“I want to know everything about you,” Lena intoned and glided through the water close by Kara. “What’s the real reason you signed up for Bite at First Sight? What makes it hard for you to connect with another person? For me, it’s my family, and I also have some trust issues I need to work through.”
Kara reached for her own fruity drink and sipped it through the straw while she contemplated Lena’s questions. She mulled over the answer with pinched lips and sighed as she set her glass aside. “I guess it depends on who you ask.”
Kara’s cryptic response was met with a single raised brow from Lena. She wouldn’t pry it out of the alpha, but she would judge her if she wasn’t forthcoming.
“My sister thinks I’m too sensitive,” Kara divulged as she averted her gaze to the water. “She thought toughening me up meant roughhousing when we were kids. She’s been married for years and has three pups. Her wife is a lovely omega who happens to be a therapist. My sister has encouraged me countless times to sit down with her wife to find out the route of my issues. Needless to say, I’ve refused.”
Lena wouldn’t dance around her intrigue. If there was a hidden side to Kara, she needed to know sooner rather than later. She doubted her mate had a mean bone in her body, yet she couldn’t help the apprehension that tightened her chest.
“Is your sister alone in thinking you have issues?
Kara scrunched her face and reached for her drink again. She nervously twirled the straw and chewed the inside of her lip as she met Lena’s inquisitive eyes. “I suppose not. Every omega I’ve dated stopped returning my calls at some point. They said, and I’m paraphrasing here, I’m not alpha enough.”
Tension ebbed out of Lena’s muscles, and she breathed deeply in relief that there wasn’t some underlying fault with Kara.
“What do you think that means?” Lena asked gently and studied Kara’s face as she laughed.
“Oh, I know what it means.” Kara confided without hesitation. “I’m not the aggressive type. I don’t posture or take what I think is mine because I would rather discuss boundaries first. I prefer to talk through conflicts instead of settling them with fights. In short, I don’t have the typical cutthroat tendencies associated with being an alpha. I haven’t met any omegas who are okay with that. I’m not even sure that you will be, but I can’t hide who I am at my core.”
Lena had to give props to the experts that paired her with Kara. They understood the nuances of her preferences and that she couldn’t handle a mate who would be loud and coarse with her.
She swam a little closer and made the first move, pulling Kara’s arms around her back. “I think we’re a good match. Given the environment I grew up in, I find it difficult to be around anyone who raises their voice or acts like a bully. We should get along just perfectly.”
They played around in the pool for about an hour, splashing and diving and laughing with each other. More than once, Lena deliberately brushed into Kara’s swim trunks to feel her mate’s solid sexual interest in between her thighs.
Across all possible criteria, they were attracted to one other and well matched, and Lena hoped they would also ease into a conversation about sex as the day went on. “I didn’t want to order without you. It’s silly, but I think I feel more nervous now than I did at the ceremony.” Kara’s spirits weren’t dampened by her anxiety, though she did seem to fidget with her glasses before pushing them up by the frame to peer at Lena intently.
“First date vibes?” Lena’s smile was coy, and the sweet fragrance of her pheromones were flirtatious and light. “I feel the same way. I think it’s best if we don’t overthink it. I’m already yours, so you don’t have to try and win me over.”
The absurdity of that made them both laugh, and she watched the tension ease out of Kara’s stiff, broad shoulders.
“I still want to, though,” Kara admitted, and selected a red wine after she noticed Lena eyeing up the bottles set aside for them. She poured them each a glass and swirled the dark Merlot around with a smile. “There’s just so much to learn about one another. Like what kind of life do you picture having now that you’re married?”
“That depends.” Lena grinned as she made some coquettish, animated hand gestures. “I like quiet nights like this, just the two of us, but eventually I want a family. Based on the little preview I’ve gotten so far, I can tell I’m going to have a very full life, among other things. What about you, Kara?”
Kara chuckled at the sexual undertones in Lena’s answer and revealed her inner dork by stuttering. “I—I want to fill you.” She was staring at Lena’s cleavage as she spoke, and her gaze snapped up to Lena’s face a split second later as she realized her blunder. “With joy—and other sh-stuff.”

“I’m sorry?” Kara squeaked and shifted in the seat with a look of guilt about her.
It sounded more like an apology than confusion, and Lena was tempted to toe off her shoe to find out if Kara was having a reaction.
“Making small talk when we’re already mates,” Lena clarified, and then went on to increase the pressure, since the sight of Kara flustered was appealing to her omega. “Maybe we should skip the questions and take a more hands on approach.”
She hoped the hypothetical situation would inspire Kara to flirt back. Lena shivered from the intensity Kara exuded from her suggestion, and then stared in shock when Kara pulled out her phone.
“God, I’m so happy you said that. I compiled a PDF of everything I thought you’d want to know about me.” Kara clicked to send off the document with a sigh of relief. “It’s chronological, but it has everything from my medical history to my current playlist and favorite smoothie.”
Lena grabbed for her phone as it dinged and glanced down at the organized list. “Peanut butter banana with two scoops of caramel protein powder.”
She clamped her mouth shut and took a fast glance down the at the 17-page long document. Her eye dropped to a section on Preferred positions, and she frowned when she read Back sleeper from the line next to it.
“Thank you for these very interesting insights into who you are,” Lena intoned through a smile and tucked the list away for later.
She decided to move her chair closer to Kara’s as a few waiters brought out some plates with appetizers. Over the years, Lena mastered the art of provocative eating. She squeezed lemon juice over her oysters just so she could lick her fingers and play the role of a tease. It took her a moment to register the sense of anxiety Kara emitted, how her smile was tense and her movements were clunky. If not for the bite on her throat, Lena wouldn’t have been any the wiser.
She tried to make it easier by being open about her wants without being crass and fluttered her lust heavy lashes. “I know it’s been a long day for both of us, but I can’t express how eager I am to climb into bed.”

Lena sank onto the edge of the mattress and stared at the doorway in dismay and confusion. She glanced around at the rose petals on the sheets and all of the little touches that should have helped to kindle their romance.
“Kara?” Lena called out and wondered if the stress of their unique situation had brought about Kara’s bizarre retreat. “I’m not that tired.”
No immediate response came from the other room, so she stood up and opened the ties on the back of her dress. It would have been depressing to resign herself to sleep. She could have texted a friend about Kara’s avoidance, but there was a faster way to get to the bottom of the issue.
Lena waited as long as it took to slide off her clothes. Her dress gathered around her feet, and she wandered over to a long mirror to select other lingerie. She grabbed an elegant little gown from her collection and removed her panties and bra.

This was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed how both Kara and Lena just both took a chance and luckily found each other. I can always count on you to write a horny and seductive Lena so beautifully. Kara being a respectful dork is always cute. Enjoyed how they kept communicating and getting to know each other while exploring new parts of themselves together. Amazing story thank you for sharing. No I had ZERO idea it was a show! 😂 I just thought the idea of “meet immediate fall in love/get married” was cute and wacky enough to work especially for the the two of them. Honestly it sounds like it was made for the queer market but alas comphet strikes again lol.
So my girlfriend loves watching Married at First Sight so of course I watch some of it with her, which added a little extra layer of fun to this because I kept picturing the cameras following them around and like how the viewers would react to Kara in those shorts 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This was absolutely brilliant and I loved it! I agree it would be awesome to see a sequel sometime. I’m curious about Lex recognizing Kara's name too!

I legit thought you were rooting for this one *because* of the reality TV show! People actually do this for real - not just on this particular series but on other ones as well. I have to admit I watch Love Is Blind. 😂 I wish they'd do a queer version. Oddly this is one story where I wish I had more time for build up and adding comedy across a few chapters, but I went for sweet and smutty vibes. Thank you! 💙☺️

Dawww they’re so cute. I’ll admit I spent a good portion trying to figure out if this was a real show people do for actual real and trying to wrap my head around that (I don’t watch reality tv can you tell 😅) but I love the idea of them both immediately falling and falling hard and the perfect scenario for them to just run off into the sunset together. And Kara growing into her confidence because of Lena’s trust and love 😍😍😍 perfect blend of sweet and hot and ugh just perfect all around
That was 🥵 🥵🥵! Would love to see a part 2 of them a few years later when they’re trying to start a family!
