The sound of bells jangling above the door pulled Lena’s attention away from the book that was in her lap, but just barely. Despite its popular location in the middle of Dublin, the little tattoo parlor where she worked was usually quiet in the middle of the day. This was time meant for reading. “Actually, it might be true. Siobhan told me that I’m going to be forever alone. “This won’t involve any permanent body alterations,” Lena explained and pulled the phone away from her carefully. She scooted around to Kara’s side of the table and prepared to take a selfie of them together. “Just smile and pretend you like me.”

Lena glanced in James’ direction and he waved her off without taking his eyes off of his client. They weren’t likely to get busy so late in the evening and she was grateful that her friend was the understanding type.
“Sure, just let me grab my coat and I’ll be with you in a minute.” Lena motioned for Kara to wait by the door, and when her back was turned, she inhaled the light fragrance of the bouquet. It brought a smile to her lips, and she blushed when she caught James smirking at her with raised brows.
“Hush you, I’ll explain everything later,” Lena murmured under her breath and slung her coat over her arm instead of wearing it.
“Oh you had better if she’s the reason I covered your shift.” James laughed and went right back to inking his client’s arm.
Lena stepped into the cool night air and she was surprised to catch the hopeful scent of Kara’s alpha. She peered curiously up at the American and tried not to make any assumptions as Kara puffed her cheeks out and flailed briefly.

I didn’t meet her friends. That was my choice, because—well—because I had met one of my own here. I would rather spend my last night in Ireland with you than with any of them."

She chose to see each moment as an opportunity instead of dwelling on how fast it would be coming to an end. Her frown reversed itself into one of the biggest smiles that was capable of stretching on her lips. “We had better really enjoy ourselves then. Let’s not waste a single minute.”
She crossed the street and headed towards one of her favorite bars—not just for drinks, but because of the general mood of the place. The corner pub was alive
with music and loud voices.
Kara skittishly stepped around people and peered up at the gold lettering on the sign. “Lena, I’m not sure if a bar is the best idea. I don’t drink that often and my liver is probably still recovering.”
Lena reached out for Kara’s hand and pulled her inside with a chuckle. “We’re not here to get pissed, but while we’re on the subject, what were you drinking last night?”
“Poitín,” Kara admitted as she scooted onto one of the stools at a little round table. She watched a waitress carry a plate of food out from the kitchen and looked surprised that Lena intercepted the woman on the way back.
“Kara, I’d like you to meet Kelly. She’s basically family. Can you pretty please bring us the best stuff on the menu for tonight?” Lena smiled up at her close friend, lifted her brows a few times and threw in an extra touch of manipulation with a cute pout.
“You’d best watch yourself with this one. She’s a chancer,” Kelly playfully warned Kara, and ushered them over to a table at the back of the bar. She wiped the polished wood with a cloth and walked off without another word as other patrons hollered for her attention.
“Is that true?” Kara inquired with a slow forming smile that created adorable dimples to form in her cheeks. She leaned on her elbows with a flutter of her lashes and pushed up her glasses by the edge of the frame.
