This was the first episode of Pokémon I ever saw, and I think it was perfect at establishing the show. You have a bottle episode that introduces all the characters, focus on a specific Pokémon, information about the world by way of who programmed the Pokédex, someone catches a Pokémon, name drops for Seafoam Islands and Legendary Pokémon, and even an appearance from Giovanni. I didn’t pick up Amy plot holes as a 10 year old, but what I did get was a desire to continue watching Pokémon every Saturday (and weekdays after school). It was a great intro episode and I’ll always like it for that reason alone.

I think half the fun I have with these episodes is just listening to your reaction to stuff, Suede. Busted up laughing at Misty's hypocritical flipflop.

Agreed! The conversations between Pokemon are always hilarious, but I especially loved this one. Suede really outdid himself this time.

I hoe this doesn't seem rude, but wasn't there supposed to be onscreen text when naming the new patrons? I only brink this up since this seemed like either a mistake or a sudden change from the norm.
