Things have been moving slowly and I want to change that. We just hit a milestone of 200 journey eps and the new Pokémon journey episodes haven't been taken down. It's a good sign. But I'm also seeing an opportunity to shake things up to improve my mental health, rebuild the base and really bring back what was lost, at the very least for posterity. So I have an idea.
THE IDEA
I can do Youtube-friendly journeys (Hereafter referred to as Pokemon Journey Kai, or PJK) quite fast, but new jokes, sticcboi gags, script adjustments and patron questions mean it's still a lot to consider. I feel like I could really get a good grind going and produce PJK at a rate that could finally catch the algorithm's eye, but I'd need to focus on it 100% without worrying about other video responsibilities constantly. So this is what I want to do.
I want to make it so that while the first video of the month is still a brand new pokemon journey, the other three will be PJKs. I WILL STILL MAKE AUTISM VIDS AND VIDEO GAME STUFF ON THE SIDE, BUT THEY WILL BE LOWER PRIORITY AND THEY WILL NOT BE CHARGED. They'll still be only be viewable by patrons first though.
I feel good about this, it gives me a proper 9-5 that I'm actually working towards, the pressure is off me to make new stuff which means I'll be doing them for the passion and that's always when I do my best work. After speaking with a good therapist about my ADHD, I'm trying this as a new technique to help combat my executive dysfunction. I've had lots of scripts rolling around only for me to freeze up at the screen mainly due to the fact that the IMPORTANCE of doing them to live caused my brain to go into survival mode and just freeze. so relieving that pressure with day-to-day simple productivity is very likely to actually INCREASE my production of Autism, Gaming, and new Pokémon content.
At the very least, it's worth a shot as an experiment, right? so for the next couple months, we'll give this a shot and see how it turns out... UNLESS the poll is overwhelmingly in the negative. You are all still my shareholders and executive producers, so all I can do is pitch and see what the climate is like.
But, there's my pitch! You down?

Wasn't too keen on the original pitch that made it seem like the main Journey would become a rare thing that didn't happen most months, but the new one sounds like the perfect solution since it still helps you without slowing down the main Journey since that's been roughly once a month for a while now anyway.

I'm on board since your health and motivation are levels that we all should maintain in the healthy green. I enjoy the rewatching of the og Suede's Pokémon Journey and i will wait patiently for the on Patreon reuploads or for the compilations to start working properly to get back to where i was again before youtube & google came to ruin our fun (along with insert scary Japanese groups here of course). Either way i found the fuzzy characters etc that you created very fun so i know you can come up with a fun way to cover Pokémon that is too silly for certain parties to not respond as one can't exactly Pikachu Ninja a squeaky yellow, goolgly eyed fuzzball roleplaying Pikachu now can they. Basically i'm here to support Suede in whatever creativity he wants to unleash upon the unsuspecting youtube and Patreon world :) Patreon can stay the safe sanctuary for the og Pokémon videos so its a win win

Yeah that definitely makes sense. When I did YT back in the day the writing was always a hard part. Though I did research based stuff and that's synthesis of other information. Granted that is a lot easier than articulating personal feelings or writing jokes, but I know the paralysis that comes with staring at a blank screen. I hope you find a rhythm soon.

No you're fine! The difference with the PJK videos is that it removes 90% of the element of video making that locks me up most often: scriptwriting. I'm hoping that getting into a workmanlike habit of the other elements it'll build up some of that work inertia you were talking about and make it easier to start a script without as much of the pressure. That's the theory anyway, we'll just have to see how it plays out

If this is too much of a personal thing you don't have to answer, but I am slightly confused about how your executive dysfunction and ADHD prevents you from making new things. With the PJK videos is it just the remixing of your old stuff that will get you over the hurdle? I feel like having to create new jokes and props might cause more ED. But you know your ADHD better than I do. I get wanting the structure of a 9-5. I also have trouble with odd unstructured work hours, but is there no way to structure the process of making a journey video in chunks to give you that structure? Is it the sense of inertia you get from completing something? I feel like shorter form stuff like the movie review you did a while ago would be better in that case. I say all this to say, if you're sure about this I'm willing to give it my tentative support, I just want to make sure thought through all the options. Sorry if I came off as judgemental or I overstepped any boundaries with my questions.

I dunno. It seems like it would more likely frustrate Patreon subscribers since many joined up for the mainline Journeys videos, and they're now it sounds like they're being pushed off to the side. They would likely feels like they're not really getting what they're paying for, (especially those who've been waiting for the covering of Pokemon Heroes since they subscribed). I have a bad feeling that they're going to feel shafted due to this and might lead to a mass exodus of subscribers.

I like this idea. My only suggestion is keep in mind pokemon horizons commentary, to me they seem relatively easy to make and might be a good stop gap here while you adjust to a new work style
