I had not thought of that. I have no clue whether the phrase "handed to you on a silver platter" meaning basically given to you originates with John the Baptist, searching it might but hard to say. Apparently the bible is silent on the what the platter was made out of that John's head ends up on. The silver seems more to indicate the lavishness of the gesture perhaps? The phrase "I want his head on a platter" to mean "I want him severely punished" definitely seems like it comes from the story of John the Baptist's end.

The silver platter saying could also be misconstrued when talking about the bible. I guess context can always change in most every environment.

I maintain that the truth is that when the Pokedex says Farfetch'd makes a great meal, it means its a talented cook. Unfortunately this truth was misunderstood leading to the near extinction of Farfetch'd from hunting to cook them. The importance of clarity of language. I am trying to think of a phrase that would be equivalent to like a duck with an onion. Seems like a combination of something being handed to you on a silver platter and being ripe for the picking/plucking.
