What patron benefits would you find meaningful?
🕑 Added 2021-10-27 23:20:28 +0000 UTCHi friends! Patreon campaigns often offer patron-exclusive benefits based on how much you pledge, but you're supporting Comic Rocket without expecting personal rewards. I'm super grateful to you for that!
Still, I'd like to show my gratitude more tangibly. Are there benefits you'd personally find meaningful?
One kind of "reward" I want to avoid is locking away any of Comic Rocket's core functionality behind a paywall. I never want to limit how many comics you can follow based on how much you pay, for example.
I also have to be careful not to sign myself up for rewards that take too much time away from, you know, actually making Comic Rocket better.
That still leaves a lot of options open. This poll covers some ideas I've been considering. If you have other suggestions, please leave them in the comments!
If there's a lot of interest in products such as stickers or shirts, I'm thinking of setting up a store for that kind of thing. If you've had good experiences with any particular custom merchandise services, I'd love to hear about that in the comments too. (Patreon's in-house Merch offering seems to be a poor fit for my needs, unfortunately.)

Thank you! I don't know of any browsers where that isn't a problem at this point. There are things that browser extensions can do to fix it though. So I hope to put browsers and mobile apps on an equal footing eventually, and maybe support dedicated desktop apps as well. I just have a lot to clean up behind the scenes first!

I know you mentioned you're surprised the app is still in use... Not only does the app still work (at least on my devices), but it's a far better experience when reading comics from sites like GoComics that don't like loading inside of a frame. (At least they don't in Chrome; not sure if that's browser-specific.) That said, I'm happy to have both options even if it means having to close the frame to read some of the comics. I appreciate all the love and work that's gone into this site!

Honestly I'm just here because a few years back (before I had my own money) I used to live for this site. I still love it, but now I don't access it that much because the app no longer works in my android. So I'm here to cheer you on on remaking the app (lol) and to thank you for the great webcomic finding and reading tool. =)

Good point! That is among the reasons why I did the Patron Spotlight first. Primarily I thought it would be fun and might get some more readers to see some underappreciated comics, but it was definitely on my mind that it's an opportunity to tell people that this Patreon exists. The user profile pages are currently rarely visited though. I'd like them to be a place readers can point to and say "check out these cool comics I found". Getting to that point is a whole separate conversation...

The user profile reward badge seems like a good move, not for patrons, but for the site -- it's a regular low-key reminder for casual users that "a Patreon exists, it might be a good place to contribute your money, just like all these other actual humans who decided it was worthwhile."

Would definitely buy some stickers if they were available, but I wouldn't expect them as a Patreon reward.
