Vanilla RTX v1.7.8 Release
🕑 Added 2022-10-22 17:10:30 +0000 UTCThis update brings variety of quality updates along with full support for new 1.20 content.
Vanilla RTX & Vanilla RTX Normals v1.7.8 Changelogs:
- Added full support for "Next Major Update" blocks in Minecraft Preview
- Revamped copper & cut copper (stage 0) MERs
- Updated none-oxidized parts on copper ores & raw copper to fully match copper material, lightning rod is now more detailed & matches copper, adjusted lightning rod heightmap & normal map
- Oxidized parts on raw copper block now match other copper oxidization stages
- Improved all 16 colors of glazed terracotta MERs, now much more detailed, fully reworked normal maps
- Improved bamboo & bamboo leaves normal maps and heightmaps, now much softer with other corrections/fixes
- Revamped all command block normal maps, improved heightmaps, reworked MERs, now much more detailed
- Reworked hopper outside normal map
- Updated 16 base textures with different file sizes compared to vanilla resources, this will eliminate any possible unintended disparity (e.g. inside of cauldron, which has been flipped or weeping vines now have a blue tint, PBR maps were updated where needed to match new textures)
- Added support for structure air, improved structure void
- Decreased cave vine emissive intensity (glow berries)
- Revamped structure block & jigsaw block, improved normals, heightmaps, new and detailed MERs, jigsaw & structure blocks are now fully consistent
- Improved iron parts on smoker front on & off, now matches other iron blocks
- Adjustments to lava emissivity, pixels that are overall darker during the animation emit slightly less light
- Revamped Kelp block, now much more detailed (I am aware of the reflective bottom texture issue, a fix will be included in an upcoming patch)
- Optimized pack file size
- Adjustments to scaffolding top normal
- Updated flowerpot to fully match brick block's roughness values
- Updated bookshelf to match chiseled bookshelf
Originally, this update was planned to arrive this November, that was assuming Minecraft v1.20 content isn't going to be seen in-game for at very least a month after Minecraft Live.
I also mentioned in a previous post that what I should be focusing on solely depends on Minecraft releases.
Around 40% of the changes I had in mind for this update are already complete & included, the rest will arrive in near future.
Early arrival of newer blocks had me releasing this update sooner, which I believe is what most players would want, support for newer Minecraft versions, going forward you can expect more minor releases.
What's next?
Expect McRTX Tweaks patch's rework to arrive, soon.

perfect, that worked... Seems like a minecraft bug, not a bug with your pack... I will join the discord. Thanks for your help!

That is a reoccurring Minecraft issue, I've provided detailed instructions for a workaround at the Vanilla RTX Discord: Open Minecraft's settings file by copy & pasting the address below into windows file explorer's address bar: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftpe\options.txt A text file will open, find gfx_raytracing:1 Change 1 to 0 and try opening the game again, go to your resource packs menu and make sure Vanilla RTX is activated. Head to Video Settings and turn on Ray Tracing, then join your world. If you find this frustrating to do every time (in case you forget to turn ray tracing option off before closing the game), I've also created a small tool (RTXCrashFix) that automates all the steps above. I leave it here too: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1014882812337332274/1070016038789468220/RTXCrashFixFiles.zip (Make sure you have .NET 6.0 Installed) Just have the folder lying around somewhere, click the RTXCrashFix.exe before launching the game & you should never encounter crashes again.

Thank you! Also I am running into an issue (running windows 11, latest non preview patch, and a 3070). I can load the mod to my server, log in one time it works perfectly.. Then every time thereafter I join the game it crashes the app.. I am suspecting it is caching something? Not sure.. I may be missing something simple.

Hi, you can download both, but use only one at a time. This gif can help you understand the difference between the two: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1045014388035309578/1045014388706390176/Compare_animated.gif

Hi, that is a game bug: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-162445 Only solutions right now are either rolling back to an older Minecraft version or waiting for a future Minecraft update. (You can use tools like Bedrock Launcher to access older MC versions bedrocklauncher.github.io) Update: this should be fixed in Minecraft 1.19.41

hello, I love this pack but small question. Why is it so bright at night as if it were daytime?
