I was struck here by a comparison between the de’Celestins, and the Wiggins of Ender’s Game. Obviously, the parents of Peter, Valentine, and Ender hadn’t been the ones pushing things, and their childhood was more normal than Rosalie’s, but there is sort of a similar Goldilocks vibe to both sets of children. Not really a ton of obvious significance to the comparison, just seemed sort of interesting. Feels like a good thing, in terms of story/world-building/character-development, to me. After all, Graff and Enzo feel like they’re working for similar goals, and with similar constraints. Appropriate that the solutions would look similar too.
