I found this true when I visited! Whether walking along what amounted to a completely concrete back alley onto which back doors let, with unexpectedly thriving pots of all kinds of plants and flowers, or taking a walk behind a big temple on a narrow footpath cut into the side of a mountain, a drop on one side and the mountain's face on the other side such that the volunteer flowers growing under the maples were right at face-level--they were charming!
