It seems the (allegedly) edible nut inside the stinking fruit is occasionally included in various dishes in Korea, China, and Japan. Be on the lookout for something called a "silver apricot". Should make an entertaining video. Bon appetit!

Botanists say that butyric acid - present in both - is responsible for the stench. New York City's parks get complaints about it every autumn. When a smell is so bad as to draw remark in NYC, that's saying somethging!
