Yes, I heard about that, J-B. Apparently, the old style samurai dudes thought women were below them, so prefered to shag their "equals". As for the "niku-shoku" thing... don't seem to hear that from the younger generation..

"Gohatto" (1999), the last movie by Nagisa Oushima, was one about a samurai BL, something that apparently wasn't so uncommon in real life. There still used to be a representation of "carnivorous" boys as winners as opposed to the "herbivorous" ones a few years ago, is that now a thing of the past?
