(Sigh...) You live on a different planet, alright. Should change the name to "Pleasantville". Well done to the Missus for instilling the young'un with strong, decent values. As to the bicycle sting operation, you don't need to mention the name of the country, as it would be pretty much ANY country but Japan. Last time I visited, I met up with a friend at Starbucks in Tokyo. We left our bags on the chairs at the table, and walked over to the counter. At the counter I immediately wheeled about a spoke to my friend facing our bags. She noticed my eyes darting back and forth, from her to the bags. Knowing what was up, she laughed and told me that I didn't have to do that there. (I still couldn't help the instinct.) I know life in Japan is no bowl of cherries, but man... Some things are just worth it.
