The quake may or may not appear, but "fear marketing" these days is a certainty. Some people invariably respond to looming threats, real or perceived, by rushing to buy something, practical or not, to lessen their (intentionally inflicted) anxiety. Matters little what they buy, they'll feel that they've done something. Retail therapy!
