🕑 Added 2023-01-25 16:03:36 +0000 UTCJust a quick note to say that I'm having to rework GM Connect, as the data transfer rates are way too high and it scaling it up for a full roll out would cost too much.
I'm working on an adjusted version now with better listeners and caching. Should be done in a couple of days, after which all the old connections using the old structure will be deleted. So don't get too settled in just yet!

That was the approach I went with last year when I first tried this - using peer web RTC connections between the GM and players, with just a server to match make. It all just felt a bit shaky though - but would be a good fall back position if the firebase hosting is too expensive.

If there was a way to locally host that would work too. For me at least a lot of people are joining now who are probably not that technical
Yup - this is exactly what I’m looking for. Watch out for expenses with all the new players fleeing the OGL. If this feature introduces monthly costs that scale with the number of users, then you should consider locking accesses to it behind your Patreon. I know you have said you would rather not charge monthly for this, but it would be a shame if you go bankrupt hosting this. :)
