A few notable people in my family have bipolar (including myself), but watching them go through this when I was a kid was fuel for my mantra--"if you think you don't need them, then the meds are probably working." While I've been irritated before and questioned my diagnosis, I keep taking the meds because, I just say "who *doesn't* need a mood stabilizer?"

Please don't stop taking your meds because you feel better, that's literally the worst thing to ever do If you have to set an alarm on your phone to remind you to take them

yeah, when I kept taking my meds despite thinking they didn't work, then suddenly they DID WORK =O Imagine!!

The meds cycle is the Tell-tale Sign of bipolar disorder, and it sucks because it just makes the extremes even more severe for the folks dealing with it.

Such a crappy cycle and the withdraws can be horrible. You're doing great <3

It's hard. I've always encouraged folks to think about medications more like crutches or wheelchairs, they're not always permanent but they're the assistance someone needs to function.

been there :D *relatable content*

It's a common misconception, the meds don't cure anything, only deal with the symptoms, so if you stop, they come back. I hope you are doing well, hugs

I tried to get of my depression drugs last year.. worst 2 months of my life! Suddenly i had the worst thoughts again and wasn't functioning anymore I'm totally okay with taking my meds for the rest of my life if i never ever have to have those thoughts again!

So relatable. I’ll sometimes think my meds aren’t doing anything, and then there’s a day like today where I didn’t take them. Why am I having such a hard time today? Oh yeah, maybe the meds DO do something :) Stick with it! You’re doing great! Appreciate all you do and share w us
