In ep 1 there is info pointing us Davids mom wasnt part of Maine group. In the first episode you can see her in TV working as emergency service. She was hardworking woman, just stealing implants from the corpses she found in her job and selling it illegally to bad guys, to provide education for David. In episode 1 when David heads up to school you can see Gloria calling Maine, with Sandevistan taped to her jacket.
