Chapter four dev log

The past week or so I've been spending working on various commission work as well as chapter four of course. Things are moving along smoothly, albeit a bit slow as I've had some issues getting certain scenes and renders to look as good as I imagine them to be. But despite this, I think I'm still on schedule for the most part and should be able to release mid April-ish.
I'm going to spend a lot more time testing and tweaking this release and if necessary will push back the initial release as much as necessary until I feel it's the way I want it. I felt I rushed chapter three out too early but felt pressured to release it as is because I already had delays from technical issues. I'm not saying you guys were pressuring me, in fact you all have been really understanding and patient whenever there has been some kind of delay, but I put pressure on my self to stick to a release schedule and I need to relax that a bit to ensure that what I release is up to the standard that I want. So yeah, thanks again for all of you being so awesome and understanding.
The first three chapters have been roaring along at a pretty fast pace with not too much time for the characters to digest and reflect on past events or have discussions about their lives. This chapter will remedy that with Luke and Kathryn having time to talk about their lives and everything that has been happening. One thing I don't want to do is bore the player with hours of dialog as this can really make players lose interest. Finding that balance is important, but I feel like this game has been a little light on dialog between the two main characters. We can get inside Luke and Kathryn's heads a bit more this chapter and have them talk about everything. I'm also adding some new renders and dialog at the end of chapter three to smooth out the ending of the photo shoot and also fix some errors with variables and stuff. My goal is to have exciting sexual scenes and good story and character progression this episode and hopefully you will all enjoy it.
I've posted a couple of renders from the start of chapter four. This is a very emotional scene that demonstrates the love Kathryn has for her little sister and also shows that despite appearing very aloof and irresponsible, Courtney really is a loving Mother. I know many of you aren't interested in this kind of stuff in these games, but showing these scenes in my opinion is vital in creating believable characters, which makes the sexual scenes that much more intriguing. What are your thoughts on this?
Anyways, despite hemorrhaging a lot of paying members recently, I'm still very enthusiastic and dedicated to this project. Hopefully we don't lose too many as I'm only able to convince my wife to allow me to spend so much time on this since I've been making a decent amount of money so far. But even if interest really starts to dwindle, I'll still be making the game right to the end, I promise you all that, I just might have to move to a longer release schedule. But, we're nowhere near that point yet and hopefully things will pick back up in April.
I'll be posting a few polls this week to get a better understanding of what you guys like and don't like in the game and to give me ideas for future content.

Luke and Kathryn talking about something that has already happened is a very good idea, It makes for more immersion and we also get to relive a hot moment again. Then the discussion between them can be build up for something in the future, so a lot of bang for your buck and you don't even have to make a bunch of renders to do it.

Aside from emotional reaction, spending time on Build ups is unavoidable and despite they have to be as concise as possible, the storyline tells what must be told through storytelling ;-) I like it a lot the way you do it ;-) I just hope such event will not make our cute Rebecca to fear men because of the trauma ^^!... I wish her to enjoy her life a lot like her sister does * evil smirk * Good luck ! ;-)

I'm not sure I agree w/ that totally. If the game has an interesting story, it doesn't matter necessarily how long between releases. Case in point, the office wife has gone awhile without an update and I'm personally anxious to see the next update on that. That said, I can see where taking much more than 3 months would make someone reconsider paying their hard earned cash to a patreon sub. I'm currently subbed to 4 different developers including this one, so as long as the updates remain fairly consistent, I'll remain a subscriber. So while I don't agree w/ that statement regarding interest totally, I do understand from the financial standpoint.

Thanks so much Bobby! Thank you for that personal insight. First off, please don’t get discouraged by the drop in paying members. Unfortunately, that’s just the nature of the beast as support will ebb and flow over time due to a myriad of reasons. The best benchmark to use in evaluating your success is your personal improvement. I firmly believe that as you improve and continually deliver great updates, the support will generally follow along a trend line. Regarding this update, I’m thankful you’re taking the time to flesh out the dialogue between Luke and Kathryn that gives us insight into their characters,motivations and desires. This makes the lewd scenes just that much more satisfying as you’ve taken the time to build an emotional and intriguing foundation. I agree that there can be too much dialogue in games like these, but you’ve struck a good balance so far if a little light on dialogue/character development up to this point. I think it largely boils down to execution at the end of the day. There’s a lot to be said for the “show, don’t tell” euphemism and finding an optimal way to provide this insight is the toughest, but most satisfying element of storytelling. Anyways, thankful for all the work you’ve put in, and I hope you continue the good work! Hopefully your wife will continue to be supprortive!

Yeah you're right, I'm doing my best to get updates out as fast as I can. So far I've been releasing in two months or less which I think is pretty good considering the amount of content each update has had.

The dialogue to me is just as important as the lewd scenes (if not more) Having them both talk out certain situations gives us a better understanding of them either choosing to do certain scenes or not. Showing the characters and their motivations only helps the story and makes you accept and invest in the characters more. Yes it can be too much reading for some but you'd rather have a bit too much dialogue, than too little. Poor Rebecca... so can we skip ahead a few weeks to have her looking pretty again lol.

I admit I've largely ignored the bum scenes, but I'll probably go back at some point and check it out. That's another thing I love about this vn - the control Bobbyboy allows during each scene. Take the scene between Kathryn and Luke's prison mate. Since Luke wasn't in the room at the time, I allowed the other dude to jack off in front of her, but didn't want her bending over in front of him. Of course, me being the typical chauvinist male, I can get a bj from Kathryn's mother behind her back, but she better not do shit without my permission.

Hey, this was a long but very good update. You mentioned a lot of thought-through points. I do think it is very hard to keep the balance between simply ignoring self-set deadlines and becoming a slave to them. Good think that you are observing and working on this point. I do feel though that the photoshop-scene in the third chapter would have better been released one or two chapters later. It was well written, but it broke the believability of the corruption-curve for me. She still had her doubts before (good thing) like stripping for a lonly guy in prison, but now she goes all in in front of two guys, a camera and real and artificial "toys". I would have liked for her to keep on a little more clothes or at least maybe only touch them or one of them after the shots. Even better if she only accepted being groped a little. So I disagree with Castriel (above) with the game needing more hotter scenes (now). I like them, but I think her pace should be slower in order to keep being believable and to let enough room for more. In contrast, I really like the idea of giving a little (!) more dialogue. But I am also glad you promise not to overcompensate and release a boring text-only chapter. You are doing great considering both extremes and finding a way through it. The horny part of me would cleary like many more sex scenes, but the thinking part of me knows that the hottest scenes are the ones that are believably pushing her a little over her borders and their main character being people I care for. Even though we are searching porn games, the added value of VN is that there can be a really good story between and during the hot scenes. I also like it that you give a good warning a long time before your income starts to get concerningly low. Other developers just post a message after 3 years that says "Oh, too few money, I stop the development" or simply go silent. Hope I could be of some help. And I wish you all the best in developing your game.

I skipped the mother, because I usually do a medium (between bad and decent) playthrough at first, so I would not rate it as the hottest scene in the game. For example, I liked the bum-scenes more. But yeah, everything else you said I can agree with. Especially: Emotion makes the scenes better.

I agree that adding depth and emotion to the characters makes the sex scenes better. You've already proven yourself with the sexy stuff. For me, a good sex scene is a combination of hot writing (dirty talk), posing, and a dash of animations at key points. I literally started supporting you because of the mother-in-law bj scene in the mc's bathroom, which was the hottest bj scene I've read. Getting to know these characters in a deeper way will add more flavor to already hot scenes. Keep up the great work.

Your game is pretty new and I don’t think it is uncommon for people to unsubscribe between updates then sign back up again. Stay the path… your story is good and getting better. Cross promotion with games with large followings should be a targeted goal. You are dealing with junkies… the slow drip of in-development games never fully satisfies.

First and foremost, you're doing a great job, Bobbyboy! But I will share some thoughts on this, my friend. Based on the genre of this AVN, this is deep and good too for the overall story to bridge a connection between the user (your fans and supporters) and the characters in this ongoing story. So in that area, I agree you did well and it makes sense. But I must say, this photo looks very sad :( - It would definitely kill my mood for a hot AVN like The East Block. Lol... But all kidding aside, you did good here by adding some depth into the story. But at the same time, I hope you consider adding some epic hot scenes as well for Chapter 4, and continue down the naughty and exciting path Luke and Kathryn are taking, especially since they have come this far already. There are so many more parts to this story and paths you can expand on well into the next 2 years, my friend. There's no need to feel any pressure. My suggestions are: Stay true to the main story, be consistent, keep growing and expanding on The East Block with the main characters, no matter what any critic(s) say, and go with what works best! Deliver at least one or two epic hot scene(s) with every update, and improve where you can. You got this! And so you know, as long as you are doing this AVN project, I will continue giving you my support, Bobbyboy! No problemo. Keep up the good works! I'm lookinmg forward to Chapter 4, my friend!
