Dev log - June 26, 2024

Development is moving along smoothly and I finally feel like things are coming together at a good clip. Things on the family front have quieted down so I'm hoping it's smooth sailing from here on out until release. I made about 40 renders yesterday which is the most I've been able to do in months.
I'm really excited for this chapter. I've played through a few of the scenes and really think you guys will enjoy them. Three of the scenes are pretty long and have some hot moments that I think most of you will enjoy. I personally enjoy a nice slow burn. Not too much mind you, but I like a nice long scene that builds tension and creates anticipation. This chapter we will meet a new family member that will have a recurring role in the story going forward. We'll also continue some other storylines that were started in previous chapters, including scenes with Clementine, Mr. Seville, Alex and others. I'm not going to announce a release date for this update because I hate disappointing you guys when I can't deliver on time. All I can say is some time around mid July. The good news is, this will be a long one.
Next month I'll be building a new workstation PC to replace the almost four year old system I'm using now. Thanks to the generosity of you guys, both from your monthly pledges and gifts from my Throne wish list, I'll be able to put together a fantastic modern system that will make development as easy and efficient as possible. Thanks so much to all of you that continue to give your time by commenting, giving encouragement, well wishes when I had some personal life challenges recently and of course your hard earned financial support. Every day since November I keep shaking my head in disbelief when I think about what you guys do for me. I promise that I will continue to make the best content I can for a long time and continue to give you guys the entertainment and escape from this crazy world that you all deserve. Please remember that my DMs are always responded to on the same day, so if you have anything you'd like to discuss with me, ideas, criticisms etc, they are always welcome. I also want to say thank you to everyone that rated, commented or purchased the game ion itch.io. Because of that I have noticed an uptick of interest and purchases of the game in the past week or so. Eventually I'd like to release the game on Steam. That is a ways off though since I want to have animations and more polish done before I think about that. I also need to work on some business aspects around this project including copyright, licensing for some music that I plan to use in the future as well as some other behind the scenes details that need to be addressed.
Well, that's all I have to report for now. I'll post some teasers over the next week as well as one more poll and a few other visual ideas to get your input on.

I hate the mini-games, especially for this style of game. I understand he's changed them already. I mostly find it interesting how people feel the update is short (it's not) because the main line update (yacht) has so many other bits added on. Mostly it's an issue of how to put enough sex into a slow burn corruption game. I love slow burn, but it's a nightmare for any dev to balance.

I took a look at the thread on f95. is it just the mini game that people are complaining about? when I have some time after this update I’ll play the game. It looks pretty good.

Bobbyboy, If you get some time have a look at the fuss around the latest update of an excellent game by the name of "Steps of Debauchery". There's a lot to learn for any developer. It's a good game and a good update that's still left a lot of very angry fans. The update isn't short, but it feels like it is along with a range of other stuff that while we might or might not agree on, has left a huge chunk of the fan base upset. Of course that in turn has upset the dev who has clearly put a lot of sweat in just to have a load full of abuse in return. There's nothing to learn from shit games, but this is a great game that just hit an interesting bump.

I completely agree with Ben hill, this game is well above and beyond the other games I have played, it’s the one I’m most looking forward too, and the one I’ve loved playing the most, and full credit to you for that, glad to hear that your family are ok that’s great news and you’re back on track ☺️ I’d like to see her get caught cheating and blackmailed by Franklin or Albert, just a thought 😉

Don't let it go to your head, but this game is seriously top league stuff. It's easy to be harsh on yourself, particularly with technical stuff, but as pixel art shows, it's very much about the script, concept and pacing too.
