Likewise former Airforce, and agreed with the sentiment on guns - in general but especially when spurred on by cultural messaging, and not only unstable people but from how certain resting catalysts of desperation can easily draw out primitive violence like an unsheathed blade.

Ryvyr, that is a really interesting insight. It sounds like the American dream is to be successful and comfortable, and the nightmare is to lose it all at any moment. Understandable.

The last time this American fired (or even held) a weapon was my last year in the US Air Force, when I qualified on the range at Travis AFB, CA in 1975. I have never felt the need to have a weapon of any kind since then. Guns don't solve problems; they cause them, when in the hands of loonies.
