Got my first jab of two last week. Interesting to see when or if things get back to normal as far as travel goes. The Olympics will be one more proof how haphazardly this has been treated by humanity. Doesn't bode well for the next one...

But yeah what many fail to realize is if even 2% of the population die .... that is a massive hit to the economy & labor market. Dead people don't pay taxes or buy goods or work after all & that is not factoring in the even larger percentage of people who don't die but end up with severe health issues from having Covid as well.

COVID has kind of ruined any real benefits the Olympics would of had for Japan, with no big tourism money coming in ... I'm guessing the Japanese government has just gone 'fuck it!' we already spent millions on infrastructure in Tokyo & just stubbornly gone ahead with it. I doubt even we here in Australia will have enough vaccinations for everyone by the end of the year.
