For the past couple weeks, I've been re-bingeing Lifetime's The Wrong series to refresh my memory. I just finished my watch-through of the series, ending with The Wrong Life Coach, the Wrong movie that was released in the time it took me to finally get to work on this video. No spoilers, but I can tell you it does end with Vivica A. Fox saying "Sounds to me like you hired the WRONG LIFE COACH."

On top of that, I've decided to cover Lifetime's series Keeping Up With the Joneses as part of the video. It's essentially a spinoff of The Wrong, this time a serialized series of movies (it's kind of unclear whether Lifetime considers it a TV show or a film series; reports vary but the 'episodes' are feature-length) about the wealthy Jones family and all the drama and intrigue therewithin. Due to the fact that Keeping Up With the Joneses stars Vivica A. Fox and many other frequent Wrong actors, each episode is titled 'The Wrong [Something]', and each episode was directed by David DeCoteau and written by frequent Wrong scribe Adam Rockoff, it seems undeniable that it's part of the franchise. I have no choice but to include it. Two movie-episodes in, it's not awful but not particularly thrilling or original either. I guess it's nice to watch an impeccably-styled Vivica and know that she probably bought a new house or something with the paycheck.
Keeping Up With the Joneses
It might be a while yet before I'm done, I've been busy watching and taking notes so I haven't started writing yet. There are just so MANY of these movies. I would love to have the video out by the end of July, but it might end up spilling into August. Hopefully sooner rather than later! I've been thinking it would be really funny to try and secure a wine sponsorship for this video given Lifetime's obsession with wine, so if you see that in the final product you'll know I was successful (as patrons you have my blessing to skip through any ad reads I do in the forseeable future).
As for Patreon extras, I'm thinking of making a Patreon exclusive to accompany the Wrong video in which I review some of David DeCoteau's other hits. I'll definitely discuss DeCoteau's work and reputation in the main vid, but breaking down his filmography in detail would add too much to the runtime for my taste, so I think it would be perfect to save for you poor souls. At first I thought maybe I could review all of his 'Brotherhood' movies, but having now watched the first two, they're honestly pretty boring for homoerotic supernatural dramas. So instead I might do more of a diverse smattering of his films. If any of you have any DeCoteau faves, let me know and I'll try to include them!

And SPEAKING of homoerotic supernatural dramas, I have another Patreon video idea-- maybe for after I'm done with The Wrong, to tide you over when I'm working on my Top Secret Undisclosed Classified Video. I recently stumbled across the show Dante's Cove, a series that aired on LGBT network Here TV in the 2000s. I watched the first season (which is just two feature-length episodes) and it's a bit of a trash hidden gem. A series that's about equal parts subpar supernatural drama and long, uninterrupted sequences of gay softcore porn. It's not a David DeCoteau joint, but it might as well be. There's even a little bit of crew overlap, since producer Jeffrey Schenck would go on to co-found Hybrid LLC, the company that produces all of the Wrong movies. It's all connected! The show is really funny and unique, so I'd love to do a mini deep dive on it for you in the coming months.

She produces them! And in addition to the big financial incentive with that, I've read some interviews where she says she has a good deal of creative control, so it sounds like she likes that part of it. I just read an interview where she says David DeCoteau approached her after making the first Wrong movie, said he enjoyed working with her and asked if she wanted to do "a couple more," which led to them making more and more together. I think she must genuinely like the work and her colleagues and stuff. She's also said she likes getting to play roles in these movies that she might not get otherwise

Is Vivica A. Fox ever asked about these Lifetime movies when she's on a press tour for other non-Lifetime projects? I just want to know why she's so committed to making them (other than the money presumably).

I can't say for sure! It's only a thing in the Wrong movies, and it actually doesn't start happening until the 4th or 5th in the series. But it eventually became a staple of the franchise that only Vivica's characters deliver. I don't think it's contractual, more likely someone, either a writer or maybe Vivica herself (she produces and reportedly has a lot of creative control) thought it was funny and decided to include it every time. Now it's not a Wrong movie unless Vivica does a title drop at the end lol

I forget if you already answered it in a previous video, but what is it with characters saying stuff like "Looks like it was the WRONG x"? Are they contractually obligated to say it?

Lucky for you just about every Wrong movie features a Guy (or possibly disguised girl) in a Hoodie Lurking Around The Protagonist's Giant Mansion at night. I guess that's the type of home invasion Lifetime moms think will happen to them?

Lately, I’ve been paging through The Apartment Plot: Urban Living in American Film and Popular Culture, 1945 to 1975, and it’s put me in the mood for some classic lifetime home invasion realness. Fakeness? Social constructness? Camp. Anyway! I’ve already made my DeCouteau Declaration in a past comment, though I now feel obligated to actually watch the movie in its entirety, considering how much of this man’s ouvré you’ve survived. In any case, I look forward to The Wrong Video and our eventual descent into the inferno!

Will watch Creepozoids! Good question, I am only considering Wrong movies that star Vivica and are directed by David. Any other Lifetime movies with 'wrong' in the title are not technically part of the series. But this is the first I'm hearing about the Dante's Cove connection, so I'll probably watch those anyway in my free time lol

If you're taking DeCoteau movie suggestions, Creepozoids is probably the best representation of his early work. It's terrible, of course, but the ending is a delight. Are you going to cover The Wrong Neighbor and The Wrong House, the non-DeCoteau Wrong movies from the same production company? They even have the same director as Dante's Cove. I guess it makes sense to skip them, though, since Vivica A. Fox isn't in those ones. How can it count as a Wrong movie if Vivica A. Fox isn't there to drop the title?
