What language was the easiest to learn? Your Spanish and Japanese are good! I read that Japanese is relatively easy because it’s non-tonal. Any truth to that?

I'm going to Japan in 2 months...never been. But with no japanese language, what are your recommendations for getting the most out of bar hopping/drunken eating. I guess I read a lot about some places not wanting foreigners but would like to recreate the "alcoholics guide to japan" vibe
