History is all about timing. A delay of a couple decades would massively change European history. Maybe the Spanish, without all the money from the new world, are more tolerant to the Dutch and they don't revolt? With a delay of only about a decade, nothing much would change.

So fun bad history fact, That bit about how the ocean gyres carry ships west at the equator is a MASSIVE part of crack theories about pre-Columbian arrivals to the new world by everyone from Roman merchants to Mansa Musa's direct Predecessor.
