So apparently, this is what is happening: They didn't buy or acquire sm. they only have 14% of stocks bcs Lee So Man the godfather of KPOP, SM entertainment founder sold them to HYBE to save his company from his scheming Nephew and kakao. Sm is still it's own company, HYBE has no say in their artists or music " For now" they only acquired a seat at business meeting's. HYBE is basically just helping SM financially, so that kakao can't buy them out. so Lee So-Man and HYBE made an agreement to work together.
