Memorial services
It's been many years since this disaster took place, but there are still often memorial services each year in the town closest to where the plane crashed down. Here's a video of one of them.
The ongoing memorialisation is really something that local residents have taken on, and worked hard to keep going. They've built a relationship with some of the families of those lost in the disaster, and out of the tragedy some lifelong friendships have arisen.
I suppose this is an example of the importance of memorials, and how they can help people to come to terms with a disaster. It's something really positive in the aftermath of a terrible loss.

In the video I mention local resident and historian Tom Dier, whose book I used as a source when researching the video. He also maintains a website, which is one of the most thorough resources relating to the crash available online.
It's worth a look if you want to learn more about the crash, and about the people involved both on the aircraft and on the ground.
There's quite a collection of newspaper clippings and original images, as well as an investigation into some of the possible causes of the fire.
