I "believe in" synchronicity (coincidence), but it's usually where there's a running theme tying a series of coincidences together which mirrors your internal thoughts. It's just a weird feature of the universe and rarely has any purpose. If this dude really did have some divine intervention or experience "the simulation", then he definitely should have spoken to that dude. For that reason alone I think his brain is permanently fried. Probably why he's sober now days.
