Cicero apparently also holds the meaning "poisonous drink" according to wikipedia which is why it seemed fitting, think i prefer Bane or Caesar tho.

I kind of hope they all go to Ecruteak, but if he leaves going to Cianwood thinking Skorupi will evo into a ground type he's going to feel REAL dumb. I'm actually kind of bummed he's aiming for a King over a Queen, although from an offense POV it makes sense. Also, looking at Grady and Josie's Teams, they don't have a plethora of good choices left to catch, do they? I guess their sponsorships will help a bit with all the evolution items, but each of them will end up needing about 2-3 evolution items if they are restricted to Kan-Joh mons.

Roman names in general would work. I think Scipio would be my vote. The most badass Roman general with a name that almost sounds snake like.

DiscoT

Cicero or Bane could be cool names for Arbok.

As for Ran, him waiting to read those books makes enough sense to me, he's repeatedly shown that he highly values the opinions and wants of his Pokemon and thus it makes sense to try and have his team while doing his research. It also feels much more something to do while out on a Route as opposed to when in a city with other options. Yes he could read it here, but there's a number of other things he could also do in the city or even just the Center. In the wild though after travel and training, a bit of research is productive and restful

I think this is an important place for Josie to start figuring out how to actually make her style properly work, I'm guessing battlefield control to force a direct power fight.

Man Grady was so excited on Ran beating Whitney. To be fair he does know how tough she is. So it does look like Ran is a very good trainer. Add in Rans team all evolving? So yeah Grady has stars in his eyes.

Heraclitus

Lol. I *was* kidding with Eldoon. Definitely something I'd do for a playthrough of gen 2, but it would be way too silly for this story, I think. Edit: I think Josie's reaction fell well within the scope of believable. Last chapter, my initial reaction was that she'd lash out and it would be this whole thing. But on second thought, that was a bit of an unfair reading of Josie's character. While we haven't followed her in her head like we have Ran, that doesn't mean she hasn't matured and grown in her own way. That she's the same girl that stormed out of Sprout Tower at the first hint of reprimand and rejection.

MaliMi

Agreed. His plans on where to go should be way more clear if he just finds out Drapion's typing.

The Dave

Yeah something to be said for this, but from Ran's POV, he's not in that much of a rush and he wants to take his time to properly read through the books. As it stands, Ran gets around to the books in Chapter 18, part 1. It's a fair point, I just ended up writing other stuff first because they felt more urgent both narratively and in-character. I'll accept the idiot ball in Ran's stead, it's only fair :v Glad you liked the update!

TempestK

Great update though it's kind of frustrating that Ran seems to have completely forgotten about the books he specifically bought to get info on Skorupi. Now would literally be the ideal time to open them and check the references to find out about Drapion. Him not doing that feels like he's been handed the idiot ball, it's forcing a situation that isn't necessary.

The Dave

Sorry it's a bit late folks, busy busy busy. Contributor poll on Arbok's name is going up in a bit, for lack of all that many suggestions, it'll just have 3 options for now, those being: Caesar, Eldoon and OTHER: Write-in comments. As for Josie: Not flying off the handle, but wanting an opportunity to cope and process on her own, I think that's reasonable. What do you guys reckon?
