It wouldn't make sense for all the movies to be treated that way, though. No matter what, there's no way both Ash and Brock would have acted like Ash having a certain level of control over aura was a completely foreign concept to them after the events of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

It seems most people disagree with you. Most people seem to think that the first 19 movies are all canon, but treated like filler episodes; just never referred to.
