Bakkt Cleared to Launch Bitcoin Futures Sept 23rd
🕑 Added 2019-09-11 13:46:35 +0000 UTCA glimmer of hope for September BTC & Cryptos. Bakkt is cleared and ready to begin bitocin futures contracts starting SEPT 23. Dick's been calling $17k BTC so this is a VERY tangible reason for it. This is possibly old news for some but for others, this is a very good indicator of a price swing. We won't tell you it will hit X or Y, but based on solid economic real world factors this is a key date to keep on your radar.
So keep your wits folks. We don't believe today is a day for despair. It is coming soon, but not today. Make it a great one where ever in this world you may are.

The Intercontinental Exchange’s young subsidiary announced Friday that it had acquired a New York state trust charter through the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). The approval clears the way for the company to begin offering its highly-anticipated physically-settled bitcoin futures contracts. The company intends to launch its products on Sept. 23.
Bakkt, first unveiled last August, has been working on regulatory approvals to begin offering the product over the past year. It intends to offer two types of contracts: a daily and a monthly contract. Both will be settled at the Bakkt Warehouse, a part of its New York-chartered trust company.

Yes, Jim I concur. Using paper contracts allow those with unrestricted capital access will indeed distort the underlying. Somewhat like a private poker game when after 8 hours of back and forth, you opponent pulls a stack of $20,000 cash out of his pocket and proceeds to crush you. If Comex wishes, they can declare a "Force Majeure" on the "stand for delivery" clients and opt to settle in Fiat at will.
This could go both ways, couldn't it?. Generate a lot of short term interest leading to price appreciation in BTC, but longer term be used as a price manipulation mechanism like futures contracts have been in precious metals or any other commodity with only the "smart money" insiders knowing exactly when to sell and then buy back.
